    350 rwhp - what's the cost?

If you have an automatic tramsmission you will be graced with 20 percent power loss through the drivetrain so you need to look for 440 crankshaft horsepower. You can get that much power out of a 350 but it will be easier with more cubic inches and the end result will be more streetable. The...

    Its Done (Pics)

While you're playing with the 400 block verify a couple of things before you install it. If you have power steering be sure that the holes in the block for the mount are drilled and tapped. Be sure that you remove the plug for the oil pressure sender if your engine has a plug before you...

    Header Installation

I use a set of 60 / 90 degree offset wrenches on my header bolts. It takes longer to install and remove the headers, but the process of checking the tightness is just as fast as if using a socket and ratchet. You do have to just guess at the torque when using these though.

    Stupid Sidepipe question

There is a very slight flair to one end of the muffler. Lay a straight edge on them and you can see it. The flair goes in last so that it can seal the muffler to the pipe.

    Manifold removal tips needed...

Line up the timing mark on the balancer, take the cap off of the dist. and mark the place where the rotor is on the body of the dist. When it's time for reassembly you will be able to set the timing close.

    Side Pod

No one makes a pod that is designed for the C3. I tried using a regular gage pod and was not happy with the way that it stuck out due to the depth of the pod. The final resting place for my fuel pressure and fuel/air mixture gages was directly to the left of the console at the bottom of the...

    Sidepipes & accessory brackets

The new prices from Summit are: Headers 399.95 Sidepipes 215.99 Glass mufflers 143.99 I normally pay 50 cents on the dollar for good used parts but make a "fun factor" adjustment for new used. My top dollar may be as high as full retail minus the shipping costs if a part...

    Sidepipes & accessory brackets

The bracket that I'm speaking of in my post above is the lower bracket that bolts to the exhaust manifold.

    Sidepipes & accessory brackets

I still had A/C on my '79 when I installed my Hooker sidepipes. I bought the Hooker A/C bracket but returned it due to poor quality and just made a spacer to work with my stock A/C bracket. There wer no issues with my alternator. If you are going to buy used pipes have the owner detail any...

    Vanacor Corvette parts anyone?

The founder and owner of Vanacor's, Brian Vanacor, was killed Nov. 17th. His wife is trying to carry on the business but I would want to see an example of quality in the past 6 weeks before ordering.

    Rear strut/shock mount

Try putting some liquid like Liqud Wrench or other bolt removal compound on them.

    Roller rocker questions

No there should be no problem with that. The only issue is that you'll want to keep the pushrods in the correct position and with the correct side up.

what would a good carb for a zz4 be?

I would be inclined to use a 670 Holley Street Avenger. Tuning parts are easy to get and it's simple to tune. The Quadrajet is a great carb. but tuning parts are hard to locate and few people understand them.

    Poor Running Vette

Welcome to the CAC! If the fuel pump is an aftermarket pump you may be overpowering the float seat at idle. This is one of the places where the stock part is best. The factory pump with it's return line will support all of the horsepower you can make with a street driven small block and keep...

    Today's the day!

The standard tire size was P225/70R15 blackwall. Your QXH cde indicates that your car was delivered with the optional P255/60R15 white letter tires. These tires were mounted on the same 15x8 rally wheels reguardless of which tires were ordered.

    Pulling The Engine

Pull just the engine. You can remove the engine without taking off the hood even. All of the bellhousing bolts can be removed easily. Put the car on jackstands, remove the near side front tire, move the hoist in from the side, lift engine, back out, Smile!

    L88 hood set-up

My hood was made by Legendary as mentioned above. Since I put my hood on a '79 without the wiper doors I can not comment on the fit at the wiper door area. Overall the fit was good with about 1/8th inch more gap side to side than I had with the stock hood. The front to rear gap was the same...

    New Best ET (again) - 11.67 @ 119.79 mph

Great times. :upthumbs Now you've just got to get that traction issue under control. I don't know how it is in FL. but here in KS our traction goes away in the cold temps due to the track not getting enough heat in it.
