    GM Seat belts

You might want to check out Andover Auto. They do rebuilds on seatbelt assemblies. http://www.andoauto.com/

    Front Suspension Mods

I'm doing my '79 currently. My buddy and I worked about 2 1/2 hours taking everything apart last night. We also removed the upper A-arm bushings and installed the new poly bushings. I have electric fans only in my car so it was a bit quicker than a stock engine would be. With the stock fan...

    composite rear springs

Less weight and won't settle with age. I just put one on my '79 to replace the sagging 9 leaf spring.

Aftermarket stereo & speakers in C3

The factory setup allowed you to mount a pair of 6 x 9's in the rear corners. There are tabs welded to the plate in front of the gas tank that fit the adapter bracket, then the grill fits the adapter. I've got everything except the speakers and time to install them, besides with sidepipes I...

    Removing Rear Camber Cam...

I've only done this on pre-1980 cars with the old style suspension but it should be the same for your's. It's all real straight forward, just nuts and bolts, until you start to put everything back together. When you try to install the lower control rod you'll discover that the rod shrank, NOT...

    Astro Tops

You may want to call them before ordering. Someone posted on another message board that the phone had been disconnected there. I've heard stories of them blowing off, but the only one that I've looked at seemed to be fitted nicely and didn't have any of the gaps that I'd heard about to catch...

    Cam recommendations

I've got a Comp Cams XE-262 and love it. GREAT low end power. It does have a bit of a lope to it that not everyone will like. You may need to change valve springs, depending on how much lift you get with the new cam. Stock springs are OK to about .460 lift. I always use the cam manufacurers...

Wild Cam, 9lbs of vaccume in gear, VERY bad power brakes

When you close the throttle there is more vacuum created, in your engine maybe only 13 or 14 inches, but it's enough to improve your braking if you've got a cannister to store it in until you need it. Remember the vacuum cannister, like the booster, has a one way check valve to hold vacuum. If...

    where to get L-88 hood

There are vendors that offer a taller scoop for our hoods, but you would have to bond it on a hood yourself. One of the people that has an L-88 hood may be willing to part with a stock hood for a fair price and if you add a scoop and some labor you could be set up.

    Water Pump Length??

Measurement from the block surface to the pulley surface; Short: 5 5/8ths Corvette: 5 13/16ths Long: 6 15/16ths The short and long pumps use a 5/8ths pilot while the Corvette uses a 3/4 inch pilot where the pulley mounts.

    Floor jack on a 77

I made a set of plywood ramps to drive my sidepipe equiped '79 up on so it's high enough to get a jack under.

Replacing rear wheel studs - 79 Corvette

Welcome to the Corvette Action Center. Some people have claimed to be able to replace the stud with the spindle on, but in my case and every one that I've seen the spindle had to be removed. This job requires some special tools and while you're in there you might as well replace the wheel...

Different style of Brake booster - length?

I used my old clevis and welded a nut from a roller rocker on the end to make mine work, but I'm just to cheap to buy the correct part. Check out Master Power Brakes, they have an adjustable clevis on thier web site. http://www.mpbrakes.com/hardware2.htm

    Fan shroud removal

The bolts for the radiator support are in the fender well. remove them and push the support forward. It will still be easier if you remove the radiator too.

New radiator: stock-type or universal w/external cooler?

The internal cooler in the radiator is a VERY minumum cooling unit. One tube running from inlet to outlet with no fins. Don't bother getting a radiator with automatic transmission connections if you are even thinking about adding an external cooler. Even the smallest external cooler will be...

Will an oil cooler help prevent overheating?

I have not mounted one yet but my plan is to put a cooler forward of the lower inlet holes so the air that comes through the grills feeds it. You need to get the cooler forward of the radiator if at all possible.

If you have MSD...what are you gapped at ???

I left my plug gap at .035 when I increased my compression ratio and added an MSD-6. I suspect that you won't notice a performance change until you get to an excessive change one way or the other or put the engine on a dyno.
