I am coming down the home stretch with the 1963 SWC restoration. I thought I would share a couple of pictures.
I have all the coolant hoses and electrical hooked up and I am just about ready to fire the engine for the first time since rebuild. I need to secure a fuel sending unit.
The...
Hi!
Unless you are really into the restoration process, I would purchase the highest quality car that I could afford. Many times you can purchase a fully restored car for the price it would cost you to restore one. With that said, I would take firstgear's advice and "Go For It"! I haven't even...
Hi! Barry
As you know I have been looking for another C-1 project. The prices for major solid axle non-original projects seem to be shooting up, up, and a way!
I think Gary is right, the prices will continue to go up!
I am sure glad I bought my cars when I did.

Take a little (very small amount) lacquer thinner on a cotton rag and wipe on the paint in an area that will not show. You should see traces of paint on the rag if it is lacquer.

1963 SWC Restoration Up-date
Hi! Gary,
I have attached the pictures that I promised.
Progress has been slow, but every thing seems to be coming together now.
Most of the rear components have been installed. I still have some paint buffing and touch up to complete. The bumpers will not...
Hi! Dave
I would try and mount the rocker covers using the end holes and then align the brackets with the holes in the bottom of the rockers.
When I replaced the ones on the 63 you could see where the brackets were after they were removed. The originals were spot welded. I drilled a 1/4"...
Hi! Gary
I have been quite busy trying to complete the restoration prior to the first good driving day in the spring, so I haven't taken the time to update the progress on the 63. I hope to post some pictures soon. I think you know this feeling very well! Sorry!
I have all the suspension...
Hi!
The shop manual was very informative on the self adjusting portion of the brake system. The area of most concern was the emergency brake system. After a year of restoration, cleaning and sand blasting of parts, it seemed that some of the brake parts made their way into the same bags. It...
The rear brakes on the 1963 operate or are set up different from other brake system that I have worked on. This was the first year for self adjusting brakes. The AIM and 1963 shop manual are lacking information on the the installation instruction for the emergency brake system. With this many...
Hi! Barry
I believe that you were warned about buying all them tools. Now you had to find a new project to use them on. Congratulation on your new Corvette and I look forward to following the progress on the 78.

Hi! Tom
I tried to look up the part numbers in my Chevrolet Corvette parts book but could only find the 66 part number: 3872929. I looked in the Paragon catalog and they offered two different emblems for 65 and the same late 65 emblem for 66.
I believe the black vs. white in the flag was for...
Hi Collin
Sorry to hear that your original engine re-build did not cure the problem. I know from your postings that you put forth great efforts and money to save the original engine and to restore your 63. My personal feelings are that if a person has a block re-stamped and it is done to...
In Western NY we have two seasons; one to drive the Corvettes and the other to restore/repair them. During the driving season I try to get to a car show on the weekend and a couple of cruises or show and shine during the week. In my opinion there is not a greater feeling in the world (for us...
