    Wires & Plugs

I'm searching for a new Plug & Wire Setup for my 69 (427, 11:1 compression with Aluminum Heads). I have upgraded the points to the Pertronix Electronic Ignition (inside original distributor setup). The wires on the car are original, or atleast are dated correctly. I will hold on to these...

    Sidepipes

Proof Here are the differences between Open Sidepipes and the JCL baffles! Once I'm able to picture my car with sidepipes and get used to the idea....and $$$ I may do it and post my OWN dyno graphs. Can't wait till I get her goin good enough to dyno her. Darn, can't see the difference. It's...

baffles HP loss Jim from JCL told me that Chuck, the guy with the BlueL88, lost only 6 HP with the JCL baffles in. I thought that was pretty amazing.

    Carb question

Recarbo I just talked to Recarbo and they gave me a price of $135 to refurbish my carburetor with a two day turnaround. Sounds good to me. I'll most likely do that in the next couple weeks. I just want to make sure that that is my problem. Thanks for the info on the company.

    Carb question

Rebuilding How difficult would it be to rebuild the primary carberator myself? I see that the rebuild kits are $25. I've rebuild VW carberators before....not hard at all. How does the Holley 3x2 compare? Thanks.

    Carb question

I'm gonna look into that. It's expensive but worth it if the car runs that much better.

Hints on Long Distance Driving with ZR 1

same post I posted a thread just like this back in March. I had my 69 more just over two months, only being able to drive it a couple hundred miles in that time, and I was going to make a 500 mile trip. The advice I got was good advice. You Corvette is a Chevy just like any other. Check...

    Carb question

Cost of Carb rebuild I was thinking about having my 2x3 rebuilt. Mine leaks down, carbon build up everywhere, idles inconsistently, no choke, runs very rich and probably a lot of other things that I don't know about. What is the cost for a rebuild? Any ball park figures?

August 2002: Lend a Helping Hand

Nothing but good things to say Here's another young guy that has been made at home here at CAC. I've meet close to a dozen CACers from the Virginia/Maryland area and am very impressed with their willingness to accept a much younger person into their group. I don't have much to bring to the...

    valve adjustment

one step ahead of ya We actually used a mechanics stethoscope. Didn't come up with anything. Can a cracked exhaust manifold be repaired even if I do find the crack? How about this. Take a spray bottle of soapy water and spray it around the manifold and look for bubbles. This may only work...

    valve adjustment

Thanks for the info Tom. I'm gonna have to do a little more researching on my engine to see what exactly is under my hood. We did adjust the valves as "the experience" thought necessary. He told me to put the book away. hahaha I think I may have picked up a little bit from it. I actually...

    valve adjustment

adjustment done Well, I started the day and the job thinking that my 427 would have mechanical lifters. I began adjusting the gaps and something didn't seem right. I went inside to ask "the experience" (I like to keep a retired mechanic around when I'm trying to tear something up.). He came...

    valve adjustment

hi all, I've been reading through the valve adjustment threads that have been posted here in the past. Good info, but I had a question that wasn't answered. Lets just say the specs say that there's a .030 gap for the rockers. Will reducing this gap give any more performance due to higher...

Sorry guys, I went camera crazy today

What else can I say? Unbelieveable....my buddy went up in a F14 last week and told me afterwards that it was orgasmic. Every turn, flip, dive or a slight movement of the stick was unbelieveable. I bet he'd say the same thing about riding in that beast. Good job and congradulations.

    Shark sounds and videos

Scott, My 427 sounds alot like that beast wave. In fact it sounds exactly like that. I miss my baby. Only two more months before I can drive her. She'll be well taken care of in the mean time.

    Texas Inspection STINKS!!!

Some of the smaller towns around Houston may be able to help you out. Tomball, Magnolia, Conroe, Hemsted. I know there are stations in Navasota that will do it for you. I grew up there and there were always people getting pasted on older or specialized cars. Navasota is about an hour and...
