anyone ever looked at the 4L60? They sell a tail housing to relocate the mount to a 200 R4. I would think all you would need then is the d-shaft.
Is it wider than a 700R4? A 4L60 is stronger isn't it? could you maybe use the new tail housing to fit on the 700R4?
Do you have an oil pressure switch? No spark Are you sure that all of the componets of dist. are good. This is just a basic engine nothing fancy?
If your not getting spark I would think that it has to do something with Distributor.
Does the power wire to the dist have a good connection?
you guys don't think it could be the EGR?
I'm on an EGR kick lately after I found mine missing the vacuum hose assembly, and no it hasn't thrown a code at me lately.
yep i still have the label i looked at it but it just shows a dotted line going from the switch to the pass side of the engine. I don't supose you could take a pic and post it for me or take a look at yours maybe you can make out where it goes.

where does the ported vacuum come from for the EGR switch?
I would check it myself and I tried but it's missing and the vacuum hose from the Egr switch to the valve is missing also.

I don't Think it will work but I'm no expert.One thing to remember is if you have cruise make sure the unit you are getting has the cruise option.
there is a sticker on the back of the unit with a letter code.
LS 84 = cruise
LT 84 = no cruise
LAK 85 = cruise
LAL 85 = no/cruise
LAW 86 = cruise...
