    Parking brake shoe install

I did mine the same way (with the dental floss), worked out great but now I'm having a hard time adjusting the e-brake.

    $26 vette paint job?

We used to paint our brake drums with Day Glo in the early 70's. Looked cool with deep dish chrome rims. Man did I just date myself.......

    1980 Passenger Seat Question

Here's the quick fix that I used on the 82. Take 2 legnths of radiator hose, slit them leghth ways and fit them over the ends of the seats where they meet. Fit them where it makes like a clam shell. Just look at your seats and you'll see where I mean. It moves the seat to an up-right position...

    power seat switch/dual exhaust?

Kyle, I bought my p/s switch off E-Bay. Just run a search and you'll find it. As for the true duals, if you don't need the cat it's a piece of cake. Just have both exhaust pipes run down the passenger side and out to the back. It's a lot less complicated than welding in a new center brace. Mine...

Can I get a quick opinion..........

That's one of the cleanest 79's I've seen. The price is a little high but, which is better a low price and bust your wallet and butt to make it that nice or just bite the bullet and buy this one. Personally, I'd buy this one, after a little bartering, (does the plate come with it?) LOL ps I...

    Speaking of Paint...

Lori, your car looks just great in claret. That color just jumps in the light. As for the wheels, they are aluminum and can be cleaned up with a little work on your part. Just strip off all the paint/clearcoat with a good paint stripper. I used some stuff call AirCraft Stripper. Try NAPA I think...

    Heat Barrier & Sound Deadener

Dave, Just to let you know. I also use the stuff from Lowe's. I put it under the carpet, the consol, and up in the back storage space. Not only did it make the cockpit cooler in the summer, but it also deadened the sound of my Flowmasters. Well worth the effort, and a hell of a lot cheaper than...

    window rattle

You can buy new anti rattle cushions from Ecklers or Corvette Central for about 20$. Easy to install and they actually work. Put them in the 82 a couple of years ago and haven't heard a rattle since. Dave

    Shiny Wheel

Here's an easy way to make them look like they are chrome. Strip them down with the Aircraft Stripper, polish with a good brand of alum. polish,(Mothers, Flitz etc.)then finish them up with Never Dull. Total cost, less than $20 and your wheels will look great. Just touch them up once a month and...

    Exhaust System

The Flowmasters should fit nicely up into the wells on your Vette. They are totaly out of site on my 82. Shaggy

    Adjusting Emergency Brake

That's what I do every year. I wonder how hard it would be to switch over to the newer (c-4/c-5) system, where it works off the caliper....????? Anybody ever tried this option..???? Dave

    Flowmaster 40's or 50's?

I too find that the 40's are noisy on acceleration. Cruising is not bad at all but, when you romp on it people sure know you're there. It's all in what you like. If you want to be a kid again than go for it. If you don't like the noise, than keep it stock. Or do what I did and set it up with...

    T Top Leak

Put new gaskets on my 82 a year ago. Couple of points of interest: Don't do in on a real hot day.(if you do make sure you're in the shade.) Be fast. The contact cement takes hold and you can't move them once it's stuck. Have a friend help hold the gaskets. Work your way around t-top in one...

    Got an 82 CE Sat.

Congrats on your new addition (the CE). I too, have an 82 and love it. These cars still draw a crowd at the cruise nites. Again, Good Luck with it. Shaggy

Check Engine Light Diog Flash Code

Try disconecting the neg. cable on the battery to re set the ecm. Then check your codes again. I find that my 82 shoots a code then when I re set I'm ok for a couple of months. (got to love the older ecm's). Just my .02cents. Dave

    Removing Center Console Panels

You can easily remove the 5 guage/radio cluster. Just remove the screws on the top and both sides. Place them somewhere so that you'll put them back in the same patern. ie. some are shorter than others. Just take your time and don't force anything. There is really nothing to screw up. The guages...

Power Seat Switch for an 82.

Does anybody know if I can use a switch from an early 80's or 90's GMC car to replace my broken switch in the 82? Not really worried about originality and a new one is over $150. Thanks for any help. Dave

    BFGoodrich Radial T/As?

I replaced my old worn T/A's with another set of new T/A's a couple of years ago and would do so again in a heartbeat. They are great. Big improvement over the Dunlops that my buddy has on his 80. Dave
