Check the lug nuts first. A loose wheel ac cause that noise.
I would not think it is a wheel bearing because you only feel it during braking. A bad bearing would act up other times. Loose lug nuts may allow the rotor to shift, etc. I would jack that car up, pull each wheel and look for...
Hi all!
I have an 89 vert. I do notice some cowl shake but it is not bad by any stretch of the imagination. My car is basically rattle free and I can even take RR crossings well. The car has a beefy factory x-brace that looks bolted to the front and rear rails. The brace also appears removable...
My 89 will leak few drops of antifreeze over the winter while in storage from November to April. But once I drive it in the summer, never a drop! Never did find the leak. But I suspect an intake amifold gasket issue. I never did find where the leak was either. Some years, it never leaks even...
I have the 89 vert and I have a little cowl shake when driving rough roads with the top down. But no twist that I can detect when I really get on it.
I know the convertibles have a cross brace but I would not think that you should be able to detect any twist in acar while driving. I would look...
Hi puppyfang!
89's Rock! Nice year you have there (I'm just a tad biased).
Mine's got about 50K and still runs great. Original belts but a new set of tires 20K ago, but from an earlier owner. Mine has automatic and the 2:56 rear gears. It's a little slow from the dig, but from 20 to 100 it...
Yes, the old 89 with those classic round taillights! I love the look. I am considering adding a C6 to keep the 89 company, but not for 2 years. That way I'll have two with round taillights.
Nothing on the Cragers yet. I emailed the company but am still hoping for a return response. I may just...
Thanks for the feedback. I'll check that site out. Yes, the old Crager SS look is what I am after. Torq Thrust has a more modern version of that old-time look but the old Crager SS is exactly what I had in mind.
I'll check that out and report back.

I hope that I am not re-hashing an old thread with this question. So please excuse me if that is the case. I did a quick search and did not find this so here goes.
I have a very nice and factory stock 1989 medium metalic blue convertible with the factory white top. I also have the factory...
I think they are 2:59. I know that in 89, that is what the auto's had. But there was a "perfomance option for the 3:08's. You may have to get under the car and count the number of driveshaft turns to 360 degrees of the wheel. Remeber to have both wheels free to turn. If you only jack one side...
I also have a 89 vert. I believe that the stock rear end gear ratio was 2.59 to 1! That's what mine has.
I think 3.08's were the "performance" option.

My 89 has nothing in back except what is below where the top stores. This year has no storage chambers. The area where the top stores has about 10 incheds of vertical space with the top stored and about 14 inches when the top is up.
