Thanks. Called the Doc and will send it for repair. He said that although the CD would insert, the servo was not picking up and therfore not driving the CD. $130 + $15 S&H. Not bad for a rebuilt unit. 24-48 hour turn-around. Did not know about the reading of burned CD's - that's good info...

The administrator advised that he is working on it. Probably for got to change the batteries . . . lol
