corvette scam
Sure looks like a scam to me. I have a Harley and have seen this several times poking around on Ebay. Bike offered for unreal low price. Seller wants you to contact them direct. Guess it is easier to cheat someone by offering a $15000 bike for $5000 than a $50000 corvette for...
Not trying to be a smart a-- but what would be unique about the later generation 6.0L engines that would make then immune to the mechanical gremlins that have bugged engines since they were invented by man? Tt just seems to me that even Gen. 4 motors could have problems with piston slap, etc. due...
Google"6.0 liter engine noise" and there are a lot of comments about this problem with the GM 6.0L. To be fair I don't know for sure if the 6.0L truck engine is the same as the corvette engine. I would like to hear comments from someone more kowledgable than me. - Bob
I had a 2000 1500HD pickup with the 6.0L engine that developed a similar noise early in its life. I named it "cold start knock". Very distinct tapping noise that would go away when the engine had run a few minutes. Never got it resolved and finally traded the truck with 60k miles to get rid of...
I think the front air dam is an essential part of the cooling system because it deflects air up and into the radiator rather than letting it pass under the car. I put a new 406 motor in my 79 L82 car a couple of years ago and had cooling problems. I replaced the front air dam which had been torn...
Thanks for all the quick replies fellows. The strips on mine are actually painted black with a thin strip of bare aluminum all along the top like mkapp describes it. Sounds like this is the original paint scheme. Hey mkapp Where is Beecher ,IL? I live in Mt. Vernon and know where Beecher City is...
Can anyone tell me if the piece of aluminum trim that is underneath each door is supposed to be painted or bare aluminum. I have looked at several pictures and can't tell. I have a black 79 L82 and the trim piece is painted black. I have a 79 L48 parts car and it is just bare aluminum. - Bob
Thanks for the info. coolhand. You can learn something new every day if you ask questions. Got much snow out there? Was out at Spearfish,SD and over to Yellowstone in June. Beautiful country but I bet it is pretty cold now. - Bob
I think you can buy aftermarket 2.5" rams horn manifolds for about $100.00 each. They obviously won't have the machining of the BRP product but they would surely be an improvement over the 2". Also,I think they will have a big klunky looking generator bracket cast in to them but a machine shop...
cj5nutz - You are dead right. The diameter difference between P225/70 - 15 and P255/60 - 15 is very small. Is N C Illinois Norris City? I live in Mt. Vernon. - Bob
My 79 L82,bought 3 years ago,has P245/60R15 tires on it. I was going to replace with the original P225/70R15 size but this thread has convinced me to go with P255/60R15 size. Does anyone have advice on what speedometer gear to change to so the speedo reads right? I followed my wife down the...
IMHO it does not take an expert. As soon as your auction ends you will know what the car is "worth". It is worth what you can get for it at this point in time which is the high bid you receive. I hope other folks will comment also as I am very interested to see how different people decide what...
Hey Smooth rider - If you are interested I have a fresh 406(400 bored .030 over) that is ready for asssembly. It is a splayed 4 bolt main block,400 crank,h-beam rods, hypereutectic pistons and includes rings, bearings, oil pump and pan and good heads. It has been balanced. I will take $2400.00...
Just a comment, not a criticism. I think it means a weak market. Also I wonder how many months old some of the price data(NADA,KBB,etc.) is. My impression is that car prices generally drop with time and use. Finally,I think your particular car raises a red flag because it had 5 owners in 5 years...
