    A good Corvette parts supplier

My advice . . . from experience . . . I don't buy anything until I check www.rockauto.com first. They don't have everything specific to the vette--but for the generic "Chevy" (and other) stuff, nobody has been able to beat their prices. My last purchase was a cruise transducer--paid a bit more...

Need a manual for my 82.

Get the ASSEMBLY MANUAL for the 82. It is the ONLY book to buy if you want to know what you're "looking at". It's not a repair manual, that is, it won't describe how to fix something, but it pictorally shows you where everything belongs--and in what order. And includes part numbers. Even if...

    Need Recommendation for New Shocks

Sorry . . . I remember now that when I tried to order the ReacTec's, I was told that the Road Response had replaced them as ACDelco's new premium shock. It's the Road Response shocks that I wound up with. Still, the car rides great--and at a good price.

    Need Recommendation for New Shocks

I installed the AC Delco Reacteks late last year on my 82. Reasonably priced . . . got 'em thru ZIPs--around $100 for 4, as I remember. They had a deal at the time. Quite an improvement over the shocks (relatively new) that were in the car when I bought it.

    Ac Delco Reac_tec Shocks

I put the ReacTecs on my 82 late last year. For the price, you've made the right decision. They seem ideally suited to the car.

    Won't Blow--No A/C

Tried that one too . . . no luck . . . been thinking about the resistor though. I removed it and it LOOKS OK. Is that all there is to it? Thanks!

    Won't Blow--No A/C

But Noooooooo . . . . I wouldn't listen. I had to do it myself. 6.5 hours!! The fan had to be removed from the motor assembly while it was still in the car, so that it would drop out through the chassis. Then of course, I dropped the clip that spaced the squirrel cage on the shaft--so I had...

    Won't Blow--No A/C

Well, I've checked about everything now . . . I replaced the blower relay (it was cheap enough)--but I'm still dead. The blower switch is triggering the relay ok, so I assume now that it's the blower motor itself? I stilll don't find any fusable link--between the relay and the blower. The...

    Won't Blow--No A/C

Last year the trip back form Carlisle was a bit "warm" w/o the A/C, so this year I got it recharged. Worked great. For about a week. Coincidently, now it appears that the blower is an additional problem. The compressor cycles OK. Cold pipes. The dash switches appear to trigger the...

which tires: goodyears or bf goodrich

Had BFGs for years---a good tire. Currently, I've got Goodyear GTs on the vette. Noisy, harse ride, in my opinion. I'm getting rid of them, even though they still have plenty of meat left on them. I've heard real good things about the Firestone SS20's. Tire Rack. If you can get past the...

Any problems with Crossfire on an '82?

My usual reply to this question . . . the x-fire has gotten a bad rap--in my opinion. Sure, there isn't a whole lot of performance mods you can make, but being the last of the C3's (82), I think it's the best example of the "old and new" combination. My Crossfire runs just fine--no problems at...

    Buying 82

A few years ago I paid a little more than I should have for an 82, but it was in 1/2 condition with all maintenance records and low mileage. So far, in my opinion, the crossfire has gotten a bad rap. Mine runs like the proverbial top--and will smoke the tires doing it--with nothing more than...

HELP! What To Look For On An '82 Shark

I don't think there's really anything specific to the 82. Just go through the standard "used car" checklist. Look for rust, signs of being in water and any real evidence of abuse or "modification". The Crossfire, I think, has gotten a really bad rap. Mine runs smooth as silk. If anything...

    Platinum Plugs?

For those of us who, for years, have thought a "plug is a plug",C5Phil and DDL-81 have certainly given us an education. Thanks! Funny (maybe not)how these marketing people are able to convince some of us that even though the car is running good . . .it will run even better with the "new...

    Platinum Plugs?

Getting ready for the pilgrimage to Carlilse, I figured I'd tune the car. All these years I've used only ACs in my "babies" . . . sometime Autolites in the others. Just had a problem with my daughter's Cavalier, where It just started running like @#$%. Found an arc in one of the wires, so I...

    cleaning whiteletters on tires

Some of us probably remember that auto stores used to sell a white paint "crayon" that you could use to touch up the letters. If you've really scrubbed to the limit--you might try to find one of those. I think they used to be marketed under the "Cal Custom" brand. I don't know if they're even...

    cleaning whiteletters on tires

I've been using Westley's Bleche-White for about 20 years. NOTHING brings the letters back like B-W. Spray it on. Scrub it with a stiff brush, rinse it off good, then coat the tires with Armorall (whatever) Low-gloss. Tires look as good as new. Agree with BBB454: To be safe, keep all of it...

    New Shocks for an 82

Anybody have any advice on what replacement shocks offer the best combination of ride/handling. I'm not looking to enter any road ralleys--just improve the handling and the ride at the same time. I don't want to have to take out a loan, either. Do I trust SEARS? Bilstein? Monroe . . .or back to...

    Frozen Converter Bolts

I want to keep my 82 fundamentally "stock" and original. But, wanting a little more juice, I've added K&Ns, removed the air door, added Super Turbos and am now adding a free-flow converter. Started soaking the bolts, but I can see this is going to be a bear to get off . . . now's when I wish I...
