Small shops can offer good value too!
The big names in this industry will provide good service, no question about it. They all have years of experience and have reputations to protect. However, there are many up and coming shops that deserve a chance. Their budgets may not be as large, but...
Mods are addictive
That is true. Modding these cars is VERY addictive. However, a basic CAI from the mfctr of your choice is a good start.
On 2002-04 Z06's the stock exhaust is quite good. I'd say only change that if you're looking for a louder exhaust note.
Headers, the CAI and a good...
The aftermarket systems are mufflers with welded pipes and tips, true, but to just weld in another set of mufflers is sort of a band aid, isn't it?
Why not get a system and let the mfcrs warranty deal with it if you rust or separate somewhere? You may not sacrifice performance, but is it the...
Not sure about that...
Wow, I couldn't disagree more. There have always been gains with aftermarket exhaust systems. For those who like the idea of a Ti exhaust, sure go ahead and leave it on there. If you're not modding much, if at all, it probably IS fine. Besides, if you're leasing...
Hmmmm LS1 edit
Oh, I'm somewhat familiar with LS1 edit. That was good. :L
No, I was referring to the hardware mod -- like you did (hardware -- a hard type of modification Vs software, changed in the code).
So you guys just "ignore the light?"
Nice Pieces!
Okay, these are really nice, BUT....
How about making a great looking CF hood for C5's that's covered in clear and not intended to be painted. I would just love one that's all CF corner to corner and leave it cleared like that. Ideas?;)
I'll gladly speed shift for you?
Many racers speed shift. You have to be a good driver to do it correctly though. Something I'll learn on my Z. I have two in my sites right now.....
I only know of a few 02's running around that I've witnessed run 12.6X/12.7X's at rte 66 (a good NHRA...
Wanna play? You gotta pay!
No one also said that modding vettes was inexpensive either -- far from it. BUT, with a little planning, and proper investment, these cars can be fast. They're just, so-so, stock.;shrug
Who ever said anything on these cars was "tweaked for optimum performance?"
If that were true, there wouldn't be ANY aftermarket upgrades.
No Z06's running fastest times with engine mods are using the stock Ti exhaust.
There are plenty of blown C5's running around IL
Edmond,
Get to the track brother! There are quite a few C5's running around that can do that and better.
I agree the Z06 is a great road course racing car, but to compare any Mustang to a Z06 is not a good comparison at all.
I've had the priveledge of driving/tuning a few these in the last few weeks and unless you put big dollars down on some lowering/handling upgrades, mustangs ride like my...
That's not a complete dyno graph
You're missing the most important part -- the air fuel graph. That's what makes power/torque when you add headers. Do you have that piece?
I'll bet money it's rich, say in the 11's around 6000 rpm, right?
You have many choices
Well, then you have MANY choices! CCW, BBS just to name a few. I think Hickock makes a similar version too.
When I hear someone mention a "C5R" anyhting I usually think they're looking for pure racing components. Good luck in your search.
Race Wheels?
Aren't those full on race wheels? I mean where you have one lug in the center? I think at the very least you would have to change out your hubs/brakes/A-arms etc. Basically make your suspension match a C5R.
Is that feasable?
