Once the paint was off of my 59, it became apparent that the car was either hit or backed over something low such that the driver's side rear valance panel was crushed just below the exhaust outlet and behind the bumper. Whoever fixed it used a gallon or two of bondo and glass.

I thought this 2speed conversion kit looked like an interesting alternative to the side-mounted kit sold thru Corvette Central. The motor mounts under the dash instead of behind the kick panel.

Can anyone tell me the secret to removing the trunk and deck hinges on a '59? I really don't want to drill the rivets securing the towers, but cannot figure out how else the spring and bolt assemblies will come out. Any ideas?
