    A little advice please

Guys, I have been off the board for quite a while now, for which I would firstly like to apologize. I am in a situation where I could use some honest advice / opinions. About 5 years ago when I bought the vette, I had just sold my previous project because it was finished, and I wanted...

    Monoleaf front end

Well, I just checked the UPS tracking numbers and my three boxes from Vette Brakes and Products are on their way. I am getting the complete front end monoleaf kit except the shocks and sway bar, I decided to leave the already new ones on there. Looks like I will be busy next week. Has anyone...

    Ouch Engine Damage

Well, it seems when I am not around, my car has been involved in some unofficial street use of the nitrous. Anyway, this resulted in a very clean spark plug in the #7 cylinder and white smoke coming from the left tailpipe and constantly lowering water level. So, this weekend, I removed the...

    Having a heat problem.

Under normal conditions, the heater will blow warm air, and the temp gage sits around 180 degrees. Then every now and then, the heater will start to blow cold air and the temp gage starts to climb. this will go on for a while, when suddenly, the heater will blow warm air again and the temp...

    Not exactly a performance upgrade

Well, the inside of the car always struck me as being dark at night when entering or exiting so I added a pair of these lights. They are from a porsche 911, so they are used to going fast ;) . Anyway, thoughts anyone?

    Help, gas tank question!

Hi guys, I will probably post this all over the place, but I got home yesterday after filling up the vette when I noticed this really strong gasoline smell. So I looked around and found my right hand muffler box soaked with gasoline and a rapidly growing puddle of the same on the floor...

    Trans pump failing?

Wierd stuff, but when started from cold, I get no drive in any gear for about 60 seconds, then it behaves ok. However, if I overfill the tranny, problem goes away, but of course fluid leaks everywhere. It is the original THM400. Thoughts, comments, etc..... Cheers Richard

Took old sharky to the track on friday night. The track surface temp was 117 degrees and so was pretty sticky. She rewarded me with the following numbers: R/T .184 60' 2.023 330 5.445 1/8 8.275 MPH 86.93 1000 10.716 1/4 12.786 MPH...

    A friendly warning!

Dont forget, our Corvettes are getting old, things loosen over time, sometimes the effect could be catastrophic. Under the differential, is a double ended bracket which locates the inboard ends of the two lower camber adjustment rods. My car has been getting squirmy recently, and I couldnt...

    Steering question

I hate to post the same question on more than one forum, but: I was checking the caster/camber/and toe settings on the 77 against the factory assembly manual, and I came up with 2.5 degrees caster on the right and 1.6 degrees on the left. For audit control GM recommended both sides to be...

    First time at the track

Well, took the old girl out to the track on Saturday, went with my son in his T/A GTA. He was running very low 15's but was having problems with his launch (never raced before). The Vette held her head up for a days best of 13.571 at 100.14mph. I must say, even with the suspension and...

    Suspension /Steering finished for now.

Well, finished installing the adjustable lower control arms, and had a four wheel alignment performed. Well, on the way home, opened the nitrous valve, and played. The car is solid and like a bullet up to about 100. Didnt want a ticket so backed off, neighbour drove it and said it steers like...

    Project status so far

Well, I installed the rack and pinion steering and the new ball joints, took about three days to complete the process. (Pics Later). It took almost a full day each side for the ball joints, and another full day for the steering with one person helping on the steeroids kit. It took about 2...

    Goodies

Well, recieved a call from the wife and it looks like my first of this batch of goodies arrived from Mid America. New poly adjustable strut rods, upper and lower ball joints etc will be waiting for me when I return from TDY in the UK. Told her to keep her eyes peeled for the bigger box with...

    Window Spring

Okay, this may seem to be a silly question, but, while I am working on everything I can find wrong in the Vette, I cannot do anything about it til I get back off TDY, a strange thing has happened. My drivers door window goes down really quickly, but goes up at a reasonable speed. The spring on...

    Ball Joints

I am going to be buying the steeroids rack and pinion system, and when I do that, I will be replacing the ball joints. I have replaced ball joints on several different cars, but never on a vette. Any comments, advice, things to look out for greatly appreciated. Also, thinking about replacing...

    Nitrous WooHoo

Tried the sytem last night, it is a 100hp plate system from Edelbrock. Wow, I underestimated the difference it made, couldnt get the grin off my or my sons face. Very noticable performance increase, and the exhaust note with the system on is just wicked. MUAHAHAHAAHAHa Cheers Richard
