81 stalls code 23 from ECM

Resolved Finally Finally got around to looking at this. Was checking grounds, connections etc. Now the car doesn't fire. Someone on another forum suggested pulling the 4 wire connector from the ECM to the distributor. Still no fire. When I reconnected, it check the ground connection on...

1981 stock corvette, 87K. Last month or so, idles up fine, runs ok on the road until it’s warmed up. Check engine lite comes on and it dies. Cranks back up and does it again within 5-10 minutes. I replaced the fuel filter (pretty nasty) and I still get it. Today I took it out. After...

I found it at the local Autozone. It's one of 2 Sylvania bulbs. I just bought both and one of them worked.

    Brake issue-pulling

Thanks for the help. I'll check the hoses and see if fluid is getting thru. I'd like to replace calipers/hoses/rotors but don't have the $800 to do it. If I can nail the exact problem down, won't have to spend to much I hope.

    Brake issue-pulling

81 Vette, everything still original, 68K miles. Got in the car yesterday and driving down the road the car pulls right. When I hit the brakes, pulls to the left. Put the front of the car up on jacks, both wheels spin ok, though the left might grab a little. Hoses look good. Pulled the...

    81 can't get in gear

    81 can't get in gear

Thanks for the quick reply. The shift lever doesn't move at all. I'll check the bearings on that side but what we keep the shift lever from moving?

    81 can't get in gear

I have a stock 81, auto transmission and something bad happened. I noticed a thumping noise on the driver's rear while in reverse. Ocasionally it would grind. I put the car on jacks, and popped off the wheel. I started the car and put it in reverse. Passenger side looked/sounded good, but...

    Popping noise

Found out what it was. Front right wheel bearing disintegrated. I'm in the middle of replacing both. I got the inner bearing race out using a screwdriver and a hammer, but I'll be damned if the outer race won't budge. Do I need to cut this thing out? Ken

    Popping noise

Popping noise resolved, Bearing Race removal? Took the '81 out today for about an hour, and on the way back, I'm driving down the road and hear and feel this horrible popping noise from the passenger side. It's not a steady noise but random. I can feel it thru the steering wheel. I'm thinking...

Poll: Who Did You Buy Your current C3 From?

Got my 81 from a little old lady. She was the second owner. It was sitting outside while her son's 2004 Mustang was in the garage. Needless to say the paint and weatherstripping is shot. What a waste of space.

    Remove Shock Retaining nut

I checked the box where the shocks came in and noticed new hardware (nuts, bushings, etc). So I ended using a nut splitter to remove the nut. Took 10 seconds to get it off.

    Remove Shock Retaining nut

That's my problem. That thing keeps a spinnin. I'll take your advice and put the liquid wrench on it. I also found out that you can actually buy a socket to fit on the top of the shaft. That way you only need to hold the nut and loosen the shock with the socket. If I can't find the socket...
