    water temp

I agree with the above posts. The top-end temp will be governed by the fan setting, usually 225-230. I'll also add that the Owner's Manual states that "normal" operating temp is 190 to 255.

    "New" 1985 coupe for sale

For anyone looking for an excellent early C4, I came across one at www.autoarchives.com It's an 85 coupe, 10,761 miles, two-tone gold metallic with brown cloth interior, 4+3 tranny. It seems to be in showroom-condition. The $17,500 asking price may be high, but they may be willing to...

    Third Brakelight Bulb Replacement- Wow

Through the gas filler opening, with skinny arms, it took me 2 hours to remove and replace the bulbs. I could only get an open-end wrench on the housing nuts and it was very slow going to get them off. Putting it all back together was much faster than the removal. CHANGE ALL 3 BULBS. You do...

    I Needed Therapy

Sunday was a great day to take a quick trip to Cape May to visit some relatives. There wasn't a lot of traffic, roads were dry, temp in fifties. It's a shame the round trip was only 150 miles. I felt like more. Only saw one other Vette the whole day. Too bad.

    AMAZING C4 (for sale)

I notice that the Ship To address was a GM proving ground in Milford, MI. But at the bottom of the document we see Classic Chevy in Moorestown, NJ. This is just several miles from my home. My question is who were the original owners of these special cars? Were they sold to the general public...

    First Time Corvette Owner Questions

Good luck with your "new" ride. You will have a blast. I went to a local locksmith who had worked with keys with chip inserts. He made me duplicates for ignition and door for $20. He even told me the chip number for future reference. Enjoy.

    Clutch Help

You may want to put it into a forward gear, and then into reverse, for a smoother shift. My 88 owners manual advises this and does seem to eliminate the vehicle shudder when you try to bang it into reverse. Joe

Pics of CE with convertible hardtop installed

Very nice. I like the appearance and am sure it would be a lot easier to keep clean than some rag tops.

I should know the answer but.....

Whalepirot, Thanks for your input. Yes, the OD switch was on, even though it wasn't working. I agree with you and hope that the problem disappears after the OD unit is working properly again. Joe

I should know the answer but.....

I also have the 4+3 and my OD stopped working a week ago. I figured the fluid could be low or need changing as I've read here before. Driving this past weekend I experienced an occasional strange vibration as I slowed down to stop in 2nd or 3rd gear. It felt like driving overthose rumblestrips...

Non-pop up Headlights & other mods

I really like the look of those headlights. If the kit wasn't so costly, I would seriously consider the change for my 88.

    Oil Additive?

Back in the 60's and early 70's, I used to add STP to my high-mileage cars. The rationale was that it was thick and would stick to engine parts, especially on cold winter mornings. Did we buy it because the TV commercial showed a Sumo wrestler could not hold a screwdriver whose working end had...

    winter driving

I agree with the idea that unless there is snow and ice on the roads, weekend drives are still to be taken during the winter. I realize Jersey doesn't get near as much snow as New England, but we get enough to sometimes bog us down for several days at a time. Rides to the Jersey shore can be...

Anyone ever had a family member/friend ask to borrow your vette?

I don't drive other people's cars and they are not allowed to drive my baby! DITTO!! The only ones that I would let drive the Vette are my brothers, who I feel are responsible and wouldn't "let all the horses out" in the wrong situation. And any drive would be a relatively short one...

How long to wait to put a car cover on

I always let the Vette cool down before covering it. I will even pop the hood in the summer to let all that engine heat out faster. Generally it's ready to cover within an hour and a half, even on a 90 degree day. The manufacturer of my current cover recommends letting the car cool off...

hard to get 88' 4+3 into reverse

Steve, The 1988 Owners Manual actually advises to do exactly what you and some other CAC members have done, and that is to put it in first or second, and without releasing the clutch pedal, put it right into reverse. It usually goes in without much noise and without jolting the whole car...

What makes yours a "Special/interesting Vette" to you?

Kevin, Congrats for getting your Vette at such a young age. I had wanted one since I was your age, but marriage, family, etc. always seemed to prevent it. As for you saying "it's just an L82", shame on you. It's a Corvette, and that's the only thing that counts. Be proud of it and stand by...

What makes yours a "Special/interesting Vette" to you?

Just like several other replies, mine is special to me because it is my first Vette, and I had waited 30+ years to own one. I can take it out anytime with no particular destination. In fact, those rides are usually the best; explore roads never taken before. It turns heads even though it...

auto or not to auto that is the question.

Getting a stick vs an automatic seems to be dependent on the person's idea of driving and not necessarily what type of car it's in. I've had nothing but manual in my vehicles (cars and pickups) since 1967. I just totally enjoy going thru the gears and enjoy the engine sounds more. For me, it...
