    1969 427 /390 coupe body and # match engine

I have the body and # matching 427/390 engine from a 1969 coupe. The body is stripped of its interior and there is rust in the birdcage, but it is repairable. Have the rocker inserts and spare WS frame. I have the title to the car, the original 427/390 engine from intake to pan, and the body...

How do you insure your corvette?

Mine is with TN Farmers Mutual (Farm Bureau). Yes, it is agreed value. I had to drive the car to the office and have it photographed for their appraiser, since it is an older car. After about a week, they called with a value I agreed with. Now I think I need to increase that amount due to...

How do you insure your corvette?

How is your C3 insured? What do you pay per year? I have full coverage (liability, comprehensive, collision, up to an agreed value.) Cost is $408 per year. This company has all my vehicles, and home owners policy as well. I drive my car less than 2000 miles per year. Just curious what others...

    Opinions on 1963 Colours

The silver or silver blue both show off the body lines best. Metallic paint has a nice color effect on a curved panel. Dark colors hide the details, IMO.

To flame or not to flame, that is the question

Here's something I've not seen yet - How about ghost flames in the coves only?

To flame or not to flame, that is the question

The body lines of the 57 can't get any more gorgeous.

    Who's Going to C3 Extravaganza?

This is the same weekend as the Fall Corvette Expo in Knoxville. I have attended that for over eight years. Looks like the organizers would try to avoid times with another corvette event nearby to maximize attendance.

    Value of a number-matching engine?

Yes, but cars are sold every day as "correct", or "numbers matching" that are not the original. That is the real question. It is vague. People say "numbers matching" and it can mean casting numbers, the VIN stamp on the deck, date codes, alternators, carburetors, etc. It seems to me that a...

    this is weird...oil burning

I like this explanation too. I thought about this last night, but I didn't look up which cylinder is #6?

    this is weird...oil burning

Look inside the #6 intake port on the head. See if someone got too aggressive with a grinding tool while porting/ polishing the inlet on #6. It wouldn't show up on a compression test either. Maybe a crack in that area, or a tap sent too deep from previous machining. Just some ideas.

    Value of a number-matching engine?

Looking for opinions, please. Background: My entire car was a basket case, which I completely rebuilt, frame-off, over 5 years. It is a 1969, originally 350/300 hp 4 spd. It was in such rough shape, it now has several incorrect pieces, including the engine (1968 327 block) and transmission...

    Need Cam + Heads Advice

Why not just get a crate engine? For your stated HP goal and minimal budget, here is a NEW, WARRANTED, 290 HP GM engine for $1700. Or a 330 HP for $2400. Hard to beat the performance for the money, even though I tried. I spent over $3500 in rebuilding my engine just because I wanted to say...

    Lowering the suspension

I cut the springs with a portable band saw. I cut off one full coil, but if I were doing it over, I would only cut about 3/4 coil. The only thing to watch is getting the coil seated again in the upper pocket, otherwise it is very straightforward. The wheels are 17", part #5057861 from...

    Lowering the suspension

I just did it on my 69 a month ago. I cut the front springs and got the longer rear bolts. New wheels and tires too. Here is the link. Hope this helps. http://corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67690

Input Request: SLP Hyperblack 17x8's from CorvetteAmerica

You don't need adapters for the TT2's if you buy the right part number. # 5057861. 17x8 with 4" backspace clear the calipers perfectly. I just bought mine with z rated Fuzion zri tires for $1700 total. Tires were about $110 each included in this total. I bought mine a local shop, but you...

    opinions on this car

Sure, but you wouldn't like my "buy it now" price, since I've dumped over $25K into it.
