Being an old man and a creature of comfort now, the '81 will not beat you to death driving it. A '72 rides like a trail bike on the highway.
Makes no more difference than the colors of these cars, they are all fun to drive. But a '73 got me hooked on the Sharks!
Love the '81
Looked at many years and found the '81 to have the styling and handling I love in Corvettes. Low 190Hp will still get you a speeding ticket in every state. Tight quarters is part of the car, too.
But that battery drain caused Bubba to pull loose and disconnect switches on the...
My '81 has most of the smog equipment removed by Bubba and friends before I got it. The AC condenser is hanging loose from the alum tubing. I may "lighten" the car a little more and get the AC belt off the pulley.
No spare tire carrier, so I figure I'm 150 lbs lighter than a "stock" '81.

Go to the TECH Center in the banner at the top of the page, look under Model Center for Identification to get information on the '81 Vette.

Had the same problem about a month ago. Went to SS braided brake hoses, replaced both leaking steel brake lines on the driver's side and a new master cylinder.

Hope you dodged Katrina as well as we did in the Birmingham area.
Just got my "Mistress of Money" out of the shop late yesterday afternoon. Replaced the brake hoses with braided stainless steel hoses as the original rubber hoses were breaking down.Small bits of rubber caused the master cylinder to fail. Also replaced two steel brake lines leaking at the...
Shambles
You found the friendlist, most Vette information around.
They can "lern ya" on most any subject!
TODAY IS A GREAT DAY TO ENJOY THE SUNSHINE DRIVING A VETTE!
Us southern boys have got to stick together.
SLOVETTE
One thing that came out of the Ford Explorer rollover/Firestone tire investigation was that most tire compound have a 6 year life. The compounds begin to break down and belts separate.
Do not ride with your friend to the tire store at hiway speeds.

I had a loose hub center cap when I bought my Vette about three months ago.
I cleaned the cap tabs and wheelhole carefully, and used "5 minute" epoxy spread with a popcycle stick in the wheel hole. Don't put the epoxy on the cap tabs as the excess will squeeze out onto the wheel. Don't...
