Looking for a good rear carpet kit for my 96 coupe. Most kits are "pre-formed" which would be nice but I don't want to end up with a poor fitting kit. Any recommendations? Anyone put one in?
Thanks! Good to be back on CAC
p.s. I'm trying to avoid Corvette America; bad JuJu with their...
Looking to expand the collection I've had since a kid in the sixties (wow! am I that old???) 1/32 Revell aluminum chassis slot cars, track, controllers, parts, you name it - I want it!
Thanx!
2 years back, when I replaced the last clutch slave (lasted less than 10K mi) There was discussion that some slave cylinders had been assembled with the seal in backwards causing early failure (guess which one I got?:mad). Is ordering one still a crap shoot or does someone sell correctly...
After washing the car, I was backing down my driveway when the speakers started to get static. After perusing the FSM, I decided to check the radio reciever under the rear storage bin. Not only was the whole area wet (insulation under carpet), the bottom of the bin had at least a quart of water...
Some ditz on her cell phone put her trailer hitch thru the nose of my pristine 96 C/E.. Both the high end body shop and I have tried to find an OEM urithane front bumper I've checked GM, Corvette Central and Mid America, and several Vette shops here in So. Cal. It appears OEM's are no longer...
I wanted to have some in-car video from track day but couldn't justify the $350.00+ for a harness bar just to get the camera mount so, I figured out one of my own. It's made with 11/2 inch PVC. the mount bolt is 1/4-20 X 2.5" with lock and fender washers. It fits against the cargo bulkhead and...
I'm sure this has been frustrating for many of us; The shifter and console plates on my 96 are finished with some sort of rubber-like coating (almost like tool dip!). Is there some sort of spray coating to re-finish these pieces without getting bent over on the price to replace them?:confused;shrug
My 96 LT4 shuts off at 150-160 degrees temp ( no spark, just cranks). After cooling completely, it will start and idle fine until 150-160 degrees and then shuts down again. Fuel pressure is fine, it seems that all electrical shuts down. Any ideas out there?
I'm curious where your clutch engages. Mine starts to engage about 3/4 of the way up from the floor and fully engages just before the very top. This seems a bit high on the pedal to me. Since there is no adjustment on clutch pedal travel, I'm assuming I'm about at the end of clutch life but...
I hope this will help others;
I had a "clunk" in my front sway bar end link caused by the threads on the stock bolt (which start halfway thru the bushing (fig A), distorting the hole in the end link (fig B). Bolt thru distorted hole = "clunk" The solution (offered by an airline mechanic) was...
While I was putting new bushings in my rear sway bar, I decided to add muffler eliminators from Corvette Central. Wow! what a great sound! The engine growls like an animal going thru the gears and the noise at freeway speed isn't much over what it was with the mufflers on. So far, I haven't...
I'm looking at replacing the rotors on my 96 LT4 . There are some Gripforce drilled and slotted rotors for sale on E Bay. The slots don't follow through to the outer edge of the rotor. It seems like that would make them gather brake junk rather than removing it from the rotor. Anyone have any...
I'm going to replace the clutch fluid on my 96 LT4. Rather than removing the slave cylinder and pedal bleeding it per the manual, I was thinking of trying the suction bleeder I used to bleed my brakes. Has anyone tried this?
I took my '96 LT4 Collector To Dick Guldstrand's Track Day at Willow Springs. There were about 50-60 Vettes there (a vast majority). It was exhilarating, humbling and downright fast fun!! Dick was very accessable for questions on anything from driving tips to Vette parts. His instructors...
I had the battery on my 96 disconnected this weekend so tonight, while driving, I was re-setting my radio stations when POOF! every light connected to the dimmer switch quit working; dash, doors, rear view mirror, but I never touched the dimmer switch! Domes still work from switch. Would the...
I was stupid, stupid, stupid!!
Today I changed my brake fluid. First, I forgot to mark the wheel to hub location ( I know better!) After finishing, the car wobbles and my emergency brakes are rubbing. I'll probably have to take it to a dealer to get it sorted out (stupid, stupid, stupid!)...
I'm taking a performance driving course next week so I checked my brake pads to see what I had left. I have about 3/4 on the pads but my rotors, especially the back ones have some nasty groves and need to be turned or replaced. If I do that without installing new pads will the old pads chew...
I got an OBD II scanner (Carchip) to check my '96 LT4. I've changed the fuel filter which made a dramatic difference but it still feels like something's a bit off (missing, starving, maybe shorting a plug wire, idunno). Anyway, the scanner interfaces with my pc and allows me to monitor 23...
Sorry for this almost pointless post but it may save somebody the annoyance.
After waxing my Vette last weekend, I tried some of this new Black Magic Tire Wet; the stuff comes in a palm size foam applicator. I thought cool! no more wiping the overspray off the wheels.
EGAD!! This stuff has...
