I'm rebuilding the complete manual steering and front suspension on my 68 BB. All new tie rod ends, bushings and A-arms, but then I'm looking at the power valve (all greasy and looking 45yrs old. Seal is bad and metal case around it bent up. Took it apart and springs look good, 2 sockets have...
Hi All,
After 2 years, I've finally installed the header side pipes on the 68. Fabricating a set of spiral baffles then its time to make some noise. Now that I'm approaching 59, I can't get in and out as easily as I used to. I'd like to find a pc of high temp fabric that I can roll out from the...
Both my 68 and 67 have long throws when shifting and I'd like to look into moving the linkage down to the 2nd set of holes to shorten it up. It looks like it should be fairly easy but would like to get a few thoughts from other members who may have done it. My biggest concern is to make sure all...
I have a 68 427/400w approx 40k miles per what info I have.. probably 1/4 mile at a time.. now when I hit a hole in the road I get a major shake in the front end. I've rebuilt almost everything in the front end except the coil springs and rubber in the linkage. No power anything. Does this sound...
My 04 Z06 with only 8000 miles check engine light came on, so off to my favorite dealer to get it checked out. Showed that fuel tank wasn't holding pressure. A new fuel cap wasn't it so they did a smoke/nitrogen test and they suspect pass side tank is leaking on top. Tanks now out and they found...
I'm switching from the old style 6.70x15s to radials, and I've already gone that route on my 67. Has anyone recently bought Michelins for their 62 w/ white walls that I can see and what size and style tire did you go with? My car is white w red interior.
Thanks all,
Jim
I'm going to be finalizing the plans on my pole barn soon and wanted to get any recommendations from anyone who has had a similar build. It'll be a basic:
*50'x65'
*5" slab
*14' sliding door
Going to be keeping a 40'RV, 4 Vettes and a few other toys.. Maybe a 2 post lift and future work shop at...
All,
I've been glued to the NCM web site to see the cars being recovered from the sink hole and have read that GM has committed to restoring all these classics back to original condition which I applaud General Motors.
Maybe this should have been a survey but didn't know how to do that..
I...
I bought a used set of chrome header side pipes and after I get them home I see a couple long 1/8" x 2" holes in the collector where the 4 tubes go into one. I think the metal is thick enough there I can TIG weld those. The one I'm looking for advice is a bend in front of the collector has a...
I have a 68 427x400 that has been bored out a bit and is still running hydraulic lifters which was rebuilt last year. I'm running the original tripowers rejetted for pump gas and TI ignition. I'm going to install the hooker set up in the spring, my question is what adjustments am I going to have...
All,
I just bought a set of used Chrome headers and side pipes. Header side, the chrome is mostly gone with some rust around the collectors and the tubes look pretty good although I haven't attempted to separate them yet.
I've searched the archives and found many older threads but thought I'd...
All,
I'm checking to see if I can find a good used set of Hooker or Dougs header side pipes before I take the plunge for a new set. I prefer Black over Chrome...
Would prefer to stay around the Northwest Ohio area to skip shipping fees.
Thanks,
Jim

All,
I own a 62,67,68 and an 04 Z06 and am 6'1''. I hadn't thought of this until I was talking to a friend who just bought an 09 Viper (i apologize up front) he also is tall. The previous owner had the viper seats lowered so he wasn't looking through top of the windshield.
Has anyone tried...
I don't have a corvette problem this time but it's very close and need some help. I have a 67 Cadillac Coupe DeVille with 30K original miles. Hasn't been driven for 2 years and normally when I drive this after siting all winter is put in gear and in a few feet I'll a big clunk and all is good...
I've searched for a spare for my 67 w/original tub and I've come up with a compact spare from a late 90s S10 pickup with a 16x4 tire.. my question is this for a 4x2 or a 4x4?? I've been told it makes a difference..
Thoughts??
Thanks
Jim
So if I have my wife push the gas pedal all the way down and I observe the linkage, should I be able to manually open the linkage any further?? I'm trying to determine if I'm getting wide open throttle from the pedal.
Thanks
Jim
