Parking brake handle went limp- cable disconnected?

Hi Supertechs, My C5 coupe is now at 122,000 miles, and has been running well for many years. I did a beer run this afternoon and while at the retailer, I set the parking brake as per usual, and it worked fine. When I got home a few minutes and 4 miles later, I pulled on the emergency...

Need advice on Radiator drain plug locking,

Need advice on Radiator drain plug locking I have had a leak in my drain petcock of the radiator for about a week. I had put in the Dorman wing-nut drain plug years ago without problem. A year ago I did a water pump replacement, and in so doing drained coolant out of the petcock. Not until this...

Climate control bulbs- the smaller ones that light the on indicator amber lights...

While trying to repair my climate control main illumination bulbs, I popped one of the smaller bulbs that light up the amber "on" indicator lights. I have searched for about 1 hour and have not found what they are. Any body know the number on that much smaller bulb? Best, Bluemill

Spec on Fog light/trunk release switch.......

First night driving my car home from work after the time change and I notice 2 dash bulbs out. The Climate control again... only did about 2 years ago, and the one that illuminates the fog light/trunk release switch. The latter is easy to pull, did, and found a neo wedge bulb, with a blue...

Trick to remove telescoping switch from steering column cover?

I have to replace my steering column covers because of brittle snapped parts, snaps gone, etc. The only part you can get now is in a shale like color- not gray but not tan either. I don't know why they couldn't come in Black -like the original?? I can deal- just get some good semi gloss black...

While fixing horn ring... steering column now like broken neck!!

I finally get all the new parts I need, and then realize the OEM lock plate is indeed a lock plate for the infamous column lock fiasco. I do like the part though in that it will give back bone to the nylon cancelcam/brush ring. I'm attaching pictures of the parts. A nice auto trans specialist...

Horn fix a real bear to do!!!!

First I got the membrane, replaced it and that did not fix my no horn situation. Then I have a hell of a time pulling my wheel, which is likely my fault from over torquing the steering wheel lock nut before. I have new found respect for the strength of a tapered spline connection, and might...

Cat pipes fit and work, got sicker, now horn does not work......

To LLC5 and the rest of the Corvette GURUS, my car appears to be fixed after putting on the 2001 cat/pipes assembly. The part fit like a glove, despite the different part number for the 2 different year coupes. So a 2000 coupe can use a 2001 coupe H pipe. Not an easy job to do on jackstands...

Need help with a part fit/interchangablity

I have a base 2000 coupe with a sick catalytic converter, that needs to be replaced. My car is high miles, so the cost of a new one makes no sense. A kind member responded to my WTB with a 2001 set. They only have 20,000 miles- and the pics look good! Only problem, the on line parts houses...

High mileage maintenance items.....maybe should be done?

I have a failed catalytic converter which I may have been able to save perhaps if I had replaced lazy old o2 sensors. The car ran fine, although fuel economy had tailed off, from 20 to about 18 mpg. The pipe tips are very black, and I'm one who most of the time is driving at low revs...

Question: Most likely situation with a PO4030 check engine code-

I've got a check engine for the first time in 10 years and 100,000 miles! Not a bad run huh? What great cars we have. I have six speed, almost a daily driver, < 9000 miles a year, and I'm not Paul from Conn., C4-C5 Specialist, but I do take pretty good care of the car. My car is bone stock...

Looking for a set of Y2000 painted wheels

I've got a 2000 coupe in great shape, but my polished wheels are suffering from poor clear coat paint even though I have taken good care of them. The leading edges are a mess. My local wheel refurbisher told me to get the painted wheels. The car is approaching 100,000 miles so a big investment...

vinyl on dash bubbling up....Can this be fixed?

My 2000 C-5 coupe has got a upper dash pad that is starting to bubble up, where the vinyl is separating from the frame backing. I got the car used with 15,000 miles on it 8 years ago. I did not notice at the dealer that it had a glue divot on the top of the dash left by velcro glue. This...

"Thwack" noise when taking foot off gas....

I have a 2000 Coupe with 85,500 miles. I just started to notice what sounds like a drive train noise when I take my foot off the throttle- suddenly, mostly when I'm in a lower gear, or almost a downshift/braking situation. It's a dull thwack or sharp thump, and it sounds like it's coming from...

Light getting thru sides of headlight hoods

There are black plastic hoods that surround the sides of the headlight assemblies you see in the raised position. When the lights are on, a lot of light comes thru the cracks at the top inner edges, easily seen from inside the car. It's not a terrible thing, but it does look a little Hokey...

Help! 2000 Navy Blue- difficult to match?

About 5 years ago, I had the nose of my 2000 coupe painted, after having a crack at the end of the turn signal/parking lights repaired. The crack was about an inch long, and not that noticeable. I had the work done any way because I had confidence in my body man, who had made several accidents...

Does C6 steering wheel fit C5? -or any alternative wheels?

I think the C5 is a classically beautiful car, like the midyears, '57 fuelie, and the '57 T-Bird. If there is anything that's flawed it's the steering wheel. Is the 2006 and newer wheel a "safe" fit for a C5? Or put another way, will it fit, and will the airbag still function? I know it...

    c6 shifter in c5?

My son got me a 2008 shifter and c-6 shift knob and the shifter linkage/stick. It looks like I need a different shift boot as well, because the old one isn't wide enough for the new one. Does it have shorter throws? It does seem tighter, and the rubber bushing seems to snap it back into place...
