    Looked at a Vette today...

23 is about average for an A4. The M6's get closer to 30. That 23mpg is also mixed driving, it does better strictly highway trips.

    Looked at a Vette today...

Update: Here's what I ended up getting.... '00 Firebird Formy...Navy Blue Metallic, loaded, leather, T's, A4/LS1, 65K miles. It's really clean, and I love the color, the photos don't do it justice. It runs and drives great, and consistantly gets 23mpg. After looking at Vettes...

Looking to buy my first Corvette! Couple ?'s

Mmmmmm, Brick Alley nachos!! I love that place. Just an update: After looking at the Vettes, I did some thinking and realized that I really missed my Firebirds. So, I shifted my focus to looking for F-Bodies. Here's what's out in my driveway right now..... 2000 Firebird...

Looking to buy my first Corvette! Couple ?'s

I know. That was my point. Out of the box the late C3's are nothing to write home about. I'd have to do all that to be near the 300hp of a stock LT1. I'm not looking for a project car at this point, I just want something I can jump in and drive. 2 years ago I was looking to do exactly what you...

True, but taking care of the 8.5:1 compression takes a bit more work.

Looking to buy my first Corvette! Couple ?'s

Well, no offense to you or your C3. I agree with you on the body, I think the early C3's are the sexiest Vettes ever made. I'm just not a fan of the late C3 smog motors. I'd actually really like to drive a C3 at this point, because truth be told, I didn't really enjoy driving the C4 all that...

    Looked at a Vette today...

It's actually a private party seller. The lot where I saw it is actually the seller's cousin's repair business. Anyway, I drove it this afternoon, and I'm all set. It had a few more cosmetic and interior issues that I didn't notice the other day. Very clean under the hood though. Not all...

    " 4.10 rear gear up grade "

My experience with the L98 is that it runs out of breath at around 4,500rpm. 4.10 might be too much gear for it. Although the 6 speed might make a difference. Maybe 3.73's would be a better choice. I know 4.10's are a popular mod on M6 LS1cars, but then again, they have 2k rpm longer...

    Looked at a Vette today...

It's an automatic. I'm going back to look at it shortly. It's been raing for the past 3 days, so I'll definitely be able to tell if it leaks. I'm just kicking myself because I forgot to write down the VIN to do the carfax. So now I'm going to have to get it today, THEN run the carfax. So...

Looking to buy my first Corvette! Couple ?'s

Thanks for all the info, Hrtbeat! Thanks for clarifiying the bit on the suspensions. I also didn't realize these cars came with such a high rearend ratio. I think my '88GTA had 3.27's, which was a nice combo with the 700R4. Surprising that Chevy's flagship performance car would get such...

Mike, that's gorgeous! I really love the white on red. So 'fess up, what goodies are you running under the hood besides the rollers and headers. Are those new heads, too? And it looks a little low, how much did you lower it?

    Looked at a Vette today...

Yeah, I've been reading old posts about weatherstripping, it seems like OEM is the way to go according to most people. As far as the antenna, what I meant is that the black ring is there on the driver's side where I assume it goes, but looking through it it doesn't seem that there's an antenna...

    Looked at a Vette today...

Yeah, I do like it. I'm trying to remain objective though, I tend to fall in love with things quickly. I'm actually glad I didn't drive it today, gives me a few more days to mull it over. Hopefully I get the chance to take it out on Saturday.

    Looked at a Vette today...

Almost forgot, Here are the pics. They're not very good, I took them from my car since it was pouring out. This is a close up of the front bumper, look to the top left of the plate cutout, there is the flaking paint. Another pic of it, look to the top left of the plate cutout, and...

    Looked at a Vette today...

I looked at the '92 I mentioned in my other post today. Sort of. I got there and the keys were MIA. While I was waiting for the keys to show up, it started pouring. So while I didn't get to see inside of it or start it up, I DID get about 20 minutes to scutinize the outside. The good...

    FYI: High Flow MAF housings....

I stumbled onto this in my research on the MAF system. Mid America has thier high flow MAF housings on sale for 39.95. They claim a 9hp increase, and I actually read an article in Vette magazine where they tested that product and saw an increase of......9hp! I'd be all over this, but I don't...

LT1 : MAF vs. Speed Density

I've been doing some research on the LT1, and found out the the Gen 1 from 92-'93 was a Speed Density system, which was upgraded to Mass Air Flow in '94. I'm a bit confused bythe "upgrade". I remember from my L98 F-Body days that the original TPI system was MAF, and that was upgraded to...

Looking to buy my first Corvette! Couple ?'s

Oh man, you're not kidding!! The chrome bumper Shark convertibles are some of the sexiest Vettes ever made, IMO. I'd give my first born for one.... if I had a first born, that is. Hmmm, maybe I ought to get on that and find someone willing to swap. :D Thanks again to everyone for all the...
