I have 275 60s on the rear of my 78 trans am...so i took a 275 of the TA and mounted it on a vette rim. It fit...but it was only about a 1/4 inch from the control arm...so i figured it was to close to fit due to the sidewall will flex when i turn and itll probally rub ...so, i put on a brand new...
Im positive they wont fit in the front, but its the rear that i want to put the 275s on. Im just curious if anyone has done it or seen it done. Im thinking about being safe and putting in 255s in the rear, but i would like the extra width of the 275s...

This may help a little, check to see the condition of the body mounts that are under the front clip. Normally when the gap at the top of the door is larger than on the bottom and vise versa, it means the body mounts are collapsed. Another thing about these cars is that no 2 vintage vettes are...
So, basically, if a 275 60 is 28 x 10.8 , they should fit?...Does anybody on here have a vette with 275s on the rear with stock rims and stock suspension?

id like to keep my stock mags...they are my favorite rims ever!
The sidepipes are Hooker Sidepipes...i bought mine about 2 years ago from midamerica motorworks, but you can buy them at almost every vette parts store. I've put them on several other cars for people that i know...they are...
hay,
I'm thinking about putting some new tires on my 79 Corvette. I'd like to put some BFGoodrich radial ta 225 70 r15 in the front, i know they will fit fine. But my question is, will 275 60 r15 fit in the rear without rubbing or should i be safe and drop a size put a set of 255 70 r15 in the...
i agree with TimAT...the transgo shift kit is by far my favorite, i have one in the TH350 in my Trans AM and one in my 700r4 in my vette....i love it..
i got...

there also should be a fusable link on the wire that goes down tro the starter solenoid. I believe it is a red wire, but im not sure. If that is partially blown, that might be your issue. There is also a link on another wire that bolts to a starter post, i'd check that too. I beleive that is...
Go fer it! A 383 is a 350 block so....it would fit in the exact same way as the original. Normal people looking at it would still think its the stock engine..the only thing is the internals are different. You have made a wise decision to keep the original. Its a "simple" swap. Id do it...
I had the same problem on my firebird. It turned out that it was a problem within the starter. I guess it wasnt grounding out to the block like it should of, or there was an internal short.
Bowtie Overdrives sells a complete kit to convert everything for a 700r4. To do this, the shifter needs to be modified, new crossmember/ mount, shorten driveshaft, TCC wiring, new cooling lines, TV cable. I did this to my 79, i bought their level 2 700r4, and i love it. The 1st gear is higher...
I agree with Warren S, I work on brand new ones, they can do things youd be surprised at. We had a truck at our shop the owner wanted the engine replace (sucked up a little bit of water, bent a few rods and it had a 100 thousand miles on it) It was an LS1, we drained the oil out and had it...
i remember.....i was about 8 or 9 and i went to my grandmas house for a weekend. On our way home, (me, my dad, and my younger brother) we cut through a neighborhood, and i noticed sitting in a yard was a cool old white car. I asked my dad what it was, he said a stingray. He hads always wanted...
let me chime in my story.....oh and by the way, that girl should get her vette drivin license temporarily ravoked.......i work at a local pontiac dealership in virginia beach. An 02 Trans AM came in on a flatbed and was dropped off. Much to our surprise (it had street slicks, and a huge cowl...
350 rods, and crank with 400 pistons. On a 383, you use a 400 crank and rods and a 350 piston. Thats why theres a 383 and a 377. The shorter stroke revs up faster than a longer stroke and it rev higher. Thats all, torque is lost at low rpms, but theres more hp at top end. It makes an...
