    Help! Z51 option

Hib's list is from GM, and it's slightly generic. First, it is barely barely possible that your glove box door was replaced with one from another car, and the equipment list may not be accurate. Check the VIN. More Z51 details, compared to a base suspension car: The front spring is seriously...

Tips on cleaning while on vacation

We spend a couple of months each year in Florida, living across the street from the beach. My technique: 1. Good coat of sealant (wax) before leaving home, Wolfgang 3.0 or Rejex are my favorites. Clean interior and insides of windows. 2. Use a TOUCHLESS car wash, with widely spaced guide...

    C6 V.S. C4 seat belts ...

The C6 DOES have a cinch feature, but it must be different from the C4 (which I did not own). To cinch a C6, you pull the seat belt all the way out from the reel. That automatically puts it in Cinch, and it will only get tighter after that. To get out of Cinch, you unfasten the belt and let...

Video: Third 2014 Corvette Trailer Looks At The Interior

:thumb If you want to see an expensive machine with a sub-par interior, go spend $150,000,000 for a new Boeing 777, and then look at the cockpit. Especially, after a year of use. You get exposed screw heads, plain old paint on some surfces, cheap plastic that makes a Corvette look luxurious...

2014 Chevrolet C7 Corvette Caught Again With Upscale Interior

Hmmm... I guess everyone is different. It doesn't bother me to use parts from other models, if the parts look/function good. But GM is going to have a very hard time selling me a C7, because we've been so badly burned on the quality of our previous GM cars in general and our Corvettes in...

2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Speculatively Animated

Showing how people's opinion of styling changes- I thought the C5 looked pudgy with a big butt. But in 2001 I finally traded my Camaro for a C5 because there was no denying the technical superiority of the Corvette. It took me a couple of years more before I decided the C5 looked "ok", and I...

    C7 Info

My recollection is that the LS3 was developed for big pickups and then adapted to the Corvette. That sounds reasonable, I don't think GM can afford to develop a "Corvette/Camaro-only" engine in these times. This new engine under development sounds like it would be good for the pickups, but I...

    C7 Info

Going from 6.2L down to 5.5L is about a 10% reduction in displacement. If DI can give a 10% increase in power, that would leave the HP unchanged. But as you mentioned, the extra efficiency of DI can be used to get either more power, or more economy, or a little of both.

    C7 Info

I was off by a year on the date, but the announcement was online in "Automotive News" 8-11-09, 3:09 ET. or GM confirms next-gen Chevrolet Corvette to bow in 2012 Of course, the C7 project could have been cancelled and reinstated three times since then.

    C7 Info

There was definitely an announcement, supposedly official, around October-November 2009; that the C7 would appear in late 2011 as a MY 2012. I didn't bother to save the info because GM never seems to get a Corvette into production on time, but it was fairly well circulated on the internet and...

What do you do to your Corvette for Winter Hibernation

I do an oil change in the late Fall. If the roads have salt on them and I don't want to drive there, once a week: I put a charger on it for a while, then start and let idle up to 190' coolant temp. While waiting, I exercise everything in the car- windows, radio, CD, seats, etc. EVERYTHING I...

    Year-old C6 Engine OK?

Well, not really a year old; only 288 days. It's a 2009 with the options/color that I want, at a good price, sitting at a dealership several hundred miles away. Odometer shows 5 miles, so they obviously aren't driving it much. Some people say that internal corrosion (cylinder liners?) could...

125k miles. What should I look out for?

Our totally stock 2001 w/ 3.15 would shift into 4th at WOT, but the shift seemed to take several seconds. I explained it by saying that the shift started at 135 mph and finished at 139 mph. The big rpm drop after the shift was completed, left no doubt that it was in 4th ! Not sure if that's...

125k miles. What should I look out for?

If the car has the 2.73 (?) rear axle ratio that was standard, I was once told that it achieves top speed in 3rd gear and won't shift into 4th under full throttle. The 3.15 (?) performance axle shifted to 4th around 135 mph under full throttle on my 2001. Either way, Enjoy!

    Question: Correct Tire Pressure

It may be good for your tires, but I'd be reaching for the shotgun if i found something like that in my driveway! :D

Are there C6 Frame protection rollers made??

As we discussed, the metal (aluminum, painted black) skid bars/radiator mount are rather fragile and difficult to replace. Fortunately, some care when driving will normally prevent any scraping. The black plastic chin spoiler has a spring-loaded center section which is designed to scrape...

Winter in the North, what do you do??

The newer cars are early in their life span and also seem to have pretty good rust protection on the frame, we put the Goodyear M+S winter runflats on our C5 and used it as a daily driver through five Chicago winters, used a touchless car wash whenever the temp got above freezing. It looked...

Are there C6 Frame protection rollers made??

The C5 skid bars are made of steel, the C6 ones are made of aluminum and are also part of the radiator support structure that is a major project to replace. On the C6, drilling through the bar will weaken it, so will most welding. Even if you simply clamp the roller in place, it's clamped onto...
