    Clutch won't disengage - 62.

Following the advice in the link I posted above, I put it in 4th, pressed the clutch in and started the car and it freed right up. Tonight, we cruise...

    Clutch won't disengage - 62.

So I parked the car last winter after a final drive for the season. Haven't done anything with it since (I know...bad owner! BAD!). Today, I changed the oil, fired it up and got ready to go on a nice long cruise. Put in the clutch, move over toward reverse - griiiiind. WTF? Can't find any...

    Low RPM mis/no fire

Aha...got confused by some of the stuff I was finding that said to set the gap, then set the dwell with the engine running. I do not have a dwell meter. I'm going to set the base timing tonight (had to come to the shop and get my gun) and see how it runs. Like I said, if we have the car after...

    Low RPM mis/no fire

Hrm...doing a little more research, it appears I used the dwell screw to set the points. I'm assuming this is wrong? It worked...or at least seemed to... If this car doesn't sell next week, it's going solid state. :)

    Low RPM mis/no fire

Thanks - I was thinking cap too, but figured I'd do some more troubleshooting before I start buying thing. Turns out my point gap was about the thickness of a hair. I adjusted that to .020 and she's purring. I need to bring my timing light home tomorrow since I made my best guess on timing...

    Low RPM mis/no fire

Hi guys. My wife has decided at the last minute that she wants to take the car to Carlisle to park it in the corral...so I have to address its woes before she does this. It's been missing for a while and I just got down to some diagnosis. Up to about 2000rpm, cylinders 3,6,5 are not getting...

Will Cooksey Lays it Down at Carlisle!

We left before the parade since my 62 has cooling issues (or maybe it doesn't...I've got one of those 'not quite accurate' sending units and I'm just not comfortable with the needle hovering just below 240) and it allowed us to beat the traffic. In Mechanicsburg, we got thunder and some wind...

    Last 1960?

Well, since the C1 line went to 62, it certainly won't be the last C1...might be the last 60, though.

    Engine bay restoration

There's an oil fill tube and cap exiting the picture on the right side. I was planning to re-use that. The heater hose fitting is the elbow at lower right in the picture, correct? I'll find the right one and add it to my wish list. The distributor to manifold gasket comes with the manifold...

    Engine bay restoration

I'm gathing parts to at least give the engine compartment in my 62 the appearance of being proper. Here's what I'm starting with: It came with a big chrome Mr. Gasket air cleaner on the carb. So far, I've collected: Carter AFB 3269S Date correct 349 intake manifold vacuum advance...

    Chicago Corvette Supply?

I thought the casting number was what's in the oval area down by the distributor hole, with a letter for the month. The 2-2-61 I'm referring to is cast into the same runner as the 349 casting number.

Hrm...guess I'll send this back, then. I'd been able to find the 250 manifolds pretty easily, but the 300s seem to be few and far between (haven't been to a swap meet, though, so it could just be the ebay and casual market that's thin on them). My D62 manifold arrived today. Still no call tag...

What's a 63 300HP cast iron intake manifold worth? I may just keep the one they sent me and pay them for the 62 if it ever arrives. I'd rather have this on hand to help out a fellow owner rather than send it back and have someone else go through this trying to buy that manifold for their 63...

    Chicago Corvette Supply?

I called again yesterday and was told that the 62 manifold (which was going to ship last Monday after being detailed) isn't even in house yet. I called Discover as soon as I hung up and put the charge in dispute. It's really a shame when a company with so many hard to find parts can't get the...

    mechanical fuel pump

Are you guys just talking about the plastic inline filters, or does this logic also apply to the glass canister type on the 62 300 and 340HP engines?

    And my manifold arrived today...after 6.5 weeks...and it's a 63 intake. Me=not happy.

    Chicago Corvette Supply?

I called and talked to Robert in shipping today. He assured me that my intake shipped yesterday, but his computer was down and he could not give me a tracking number. I keep trying to reach LeAnn regarding the duplicate charge, but she never seems to be in the office. I'm giving the intake...

    61 hardtop

They're different. The 61/62 top has a 'crease' in the frame below the back window to accommodate the body line in the middle of the trunk and deck lid. I'm also pretty sure the mounting points are different.

I called and talked to Bob yesterday. He assured me that my intake was in house and would ship Monday or Tuesday after being prepped and painted. I've got my fingers crossed...
