Popular Hot Rodding's recent issue (Feb 2010) gives a lot of details on the engines that competed in their most recent 2009 Engine Masters competition.
For 2009 the rules were changed to allow dual carbs, tunnel ram intakes, etc., Also the RPM range was raised (the range where power would...

What would cause a steady SES light but no stored code?
I posted on this issue on the General Board but I think I should have posted it here.
Thanks,
Jake

96 LT1, Auto
SES light began flashing then remained ON steady. Engine never missed a beat and NO difference in drivability. Yet, when I used the paper-clip method to determine the code, none was stored. Auto scanning showed - - -, in all modes so I can't trace the source.
I shut down and...
This has been kicked around on another Forum for a few weeks now, and so far, I've only found two guys who've degreed-in their LT1 cam. I'm surprised that so few have done so, but that's an issue for another day.
For starters, I've degreed-in many, many camshafts over the years on both Big and...
SOLD!
I just installed a new set of Dart Pro 1 cylinder heads on my son's 1996 LT1 Corvette and I have his stock aluminum heads for sale.
Heads are 10207643s, completely stock and are un-damaged.
Engine has 102,000 miles, so I'm assuming the heads have seen the same mileage. Heads are...
I need a replacement washer for the steam vent tube that attaches to the rear of the heads on a 96 LT1.
I've been doing a search but keep coming up empty. My local Chevy dealer can't get them.
Does anyone know where I can find one or, maybe a work around?
Thanks,
Jake

1996 Vette LT1
Since this is only the 2nd LT1 I've built and because I can't find Volume 2 of my FSM set, I want to check my memory on the alignment just to be sure I do it right.
When installing the hub, I'm supposed to align the DOT on the hub with the keyway groove in the crank snout. then...
My son and his 96 LT1 are at Ft Hood near Killeen, TX, for his summer training and I'm outside of Dallas, so we're not close to each other. Anyway, his 96 LT1 Vette just threw a Service Engine Soon light and in pulling the codes he came up with C71, C72, H71 and H72.
I've been trying to...
Gauging Interest in "BIG" CID LT1 Block
Yesterday I called Dart to get their published flow numbers on a set of Dart heads I recently bought.
In the conversation with the Tech Support guy, he mentioned that Dart is "considering" casting one of their SHP blocks to become, essentially, a BIG...
Going from the stock 8.5" Ft/9.5" Rear wheels to 9.5" Ft/10.5" Rear wheels on my 96 made an immediately noticable and amazing difference in road tracking. One inch wider at both ends.
Car now feels more like it's on rails calling for little steering wheel corrections.
Just thought I'd share...
My new Z06 wheels arrived yesterday, so my stock saw blades are for sale.
All four: 2 @ 17" x 9.5" and 2 @ 17" x 8.5", all 20 factory lug nuts, all four center caps, all 20 plastic lug nut covers and all four wheel locking lug nuts with key. You'll have the option of running the locking lug...
I removed this one from my 96 and went with a 58MM BBK TB after installing a 388 CID engine in my 96.
It's been sitting in the BBK box for over a year now and it's time for it to go.
I had to remove and reuse the base plate since the new BBK didn't come with one.
$50 shipped.

I've had these sitting around forever (over 15 years), always thinking I'd use them on another BB engine build. Now I've come to realize "it ain't gonna happen".
I ran these on a 468 street engine in a Trans Am back in the early 90s until the car had an unfortunate encounter with a railroad...
Here's what I have for sale:
1. Software floppy disk with Diacom Plus software
2. Printer connecting cord. One end to printer port on laptop or PC and other end connects to one of three DIACOM ALDL adapters.
3. RINDA ALDL connector and cord, red in color, narrower in width than the other two...
Both have been siamesed. Plenum is stock type off an 86 TPI. Throttle cable bracket still on plenum.
$100 plus shipping for the both of them' NOT each. I'll try to post some pics.
Sorry, I threw away the intake manifold, not thinking anyone would be interested.

My son has a 96 LT1. His cluster works fine, but all other dash lights are out.
The dimmer works and controls the cluster, but CIC, headlight control, door lights, shifter, etc. are out.
We checked each any every FUSE and all are good.
Where should be go next.
Thanks for any help.
Jake
I've been searching for a replacement Vette; mine burned up last month - engine fire.
I've found a few near to me and am wondering what are the differences between a 95 LT1 and a 96 LT1 other than merely the model year.
Thanks,
Jake
