Maybe that's why the previous owner got rid of it...........
Couldn't figure out what he did wrong.
Good for you, for keeping on it to the conclusion, and for updating the thread and letting
us know what the final fix was!

Could also be a broken intake valve spring. Had one of those on an L78 396 Chevelle that acted JUST the same way as yours. Easy to check by pulling the valve covers and visually inspect (closely) all the springs.

PHEW !!!!! For a second there I was worried that I might be seen hiding behind the tree, but it all worked out.
Hope all of you had a Very Merry Christmas!

Google "Dr. Dons Radio Repair". Never used them myself, but have heard some good reports. Call them, explain what you want, and see if they can do it. Good Luck with the radio.

Ron, saw a couple of posts elsewhere that said to do the procedure with the car running, BUT, both of the posts said to hold the switches in the up position for 12-15 seconds. Don't know if that will do it or not, but it IS cheap to try! LOL.
As a side note, does your radio go off immediately...
3M Scotchbrite will also work. At the shop where I get my work done, they have a small air operated sander that they use on every wheel that they break the bead on, and have those Scotchbrite pads already made up in the correct size with "sticky back" adhesive on them. When one gets worn out...
Could be that someone swapped the left and right tires and didn't swap the sensors. When they are programmed into the computer, they become "locked" into that location. In other words, the left rear tire sensor will show up as being the left rear sensor no matter what wheel it's on. If possible...
I like the "turn the armature a few thousandths". Field expediency at it's finest.
Since you didn't have the problem anymore, I guess that it worked!
Good for that mechanic.............:thumb:thumb:cool!:

Are you positive it's the original engine? I would be suspicious of the old switcheroo where they rebuilt a non corvette motor and dressed it up to look like one.
