If you watch the video link you can see the Mid-Year headlights do rotate 180* - 90* rotation would put the leading edge of the headlight module straight up - it clearly rotates 180* to the back.
In addition to the Jaguars, Saab, Austin Healey (Bug Eye Sprite) and others used clamshell hoods...
C2 headlights rotate 180*.

The C4 was the first production Corvette to use a clamshell hood, but this was not something NEW. Likely there were earlier sports cars, but beginning in 1961 the Jaguar XKE had a clamshell hood.
6Shooter - I think trying to reason with "Bucket" is a waste of time. His comments run counter to the statements and writings of Dave Mc Clellan and Dave Hill and every history of the Corvette book published.
I for one wish everyone a Merry Christmas! (and I'm off this thread.)
The 1982 and the 1984 Corvettes share the "Cross Fire Injection" engine.
The 1996 to 1997 change (C4 to C5) was the most "all new" Corvette built to date. The Corvette Black Book by Mike Antonick gives a good description of the year-to-year changes the Corvette has undergone.
I use a Garmin 60CS. Portable unit with a color screen, and it is easy on batteries. I just set it in the cup holder. The passenger uses the unit, don't need the distraction when driving.
If you mean removal of the bolt, it should just screw out but soak with PB blaster. If you mean replacement of the mount itself that will require lifting the body somewhat so that you can access the bottom cushion of the mount.
The other mounts on that side also have to be loosened so that the...
It may be the pulse controller for the wipers. That is pn 14016215 and it is available from your Chevy dealer (GM Restoration Parts). The wiper switch itself is pn 14029570 (with pulse) and it is also available from GM Restoration Parts.
1968-79 manual and automatic transmission cars all used the same propeller shaft pn 378231.
1980-81 automatic transmissions used pn 14014603.
1980-81 manual transmissions used pn 14014606.
1982 (A.T.) used propeller shaft pn 14041083.
The propeller shaft changed in 1980 when the Dana...
I had Van Steel do my trailing arms, beautiful work, and they were prompt. Also, they were very helpful with my installation questions. I had them powder coated the arms as the car is not NCRS.
I have also heard good things about Bairs rebuild work on TA and I have purchased some suspension...
2003 A4 convertible, no mods - 29.5 mpg highway 65-70 (speed limit). I think the MN6 cars do better than the A4 cars. It doesn't look much like an economy car!
FWIW: The actual mileage and the DIC calculated mileage are pretty close.
Worst Factory Color?
1980 Frost Beige (code 59). My C3's original color, it has been repainted red, and repainted black. This car will need to be painted, but it won't be the original "Frost Beige"!
Does the fuse ever NOT blow?
What does the wiring going into the doors look like? Seems like a short to ground and the doors might be a suitable spot for the wiring harness to wear.
I also have a 1980, but it is in too many pieces to see if the lights work! LOL
May be time to go wire by...
Gas milage? 29.4 mpg highway, and about 24 mpg overall.
(2003 convertible with automatic - sorry I couldn't resist. These C5s just don't look like economy cars.)
My 1980 L48 on the other hand ......
New Corvettes come with 5W-30 Mobile 1 from the factory. There is no "break-in" oil. They run fine on the synthetic from the beginning.
These engines (LS1/LS6) have much tighter manufacturing tolerances and require the lighter 5W-30 synthetic oils. Heavier oils do not lubricate these engines...
Is the Courtesy Light and Dome Light delay operating properly?
That is do the dome/courtesy lights come on when you open the door, and do they remain on for 30 seconds after both doors are closed?
