Fixes for the carb?
Hey SIXFOOTER,
Do you have any tips, things-to-watch-out-for, or suggestions to make sure I get a good job done on getting the carb fixed? (Other than getting a knowledgeable mechanic!!)
I too would prefer to go the route of getting the carb fixed. Funny thing I do have...
Replacing the carb
Sensei and others...
So what is involved in replacing the stock carb on an L81? I just had mine tuned up and am told it needs to be rebuilt or replaced. Because of the 3C computer controlled engine management system, I am of the opinion I can't just take off the Rochester...
So what is involved in changing out my stock carb?
So based on your application of the formula (A great piece of info BTW), if I have a 1981 with the L81 and the stock Rochester carb and the 3C computer controlled engine management system, what all do I have to change? Anyone have any...
That's exactly what I just heard from my GM mechanic.
Sensei,
Not ten minutes after making that posting I was picking up the car from an oil change and asked the mechanic about the booster and his answer was exactly what you said. Compression ratio is far too low for booster or higher octane...
Hello folks,
First off forgive me if this is a topic that you have all beaten to death, but what is the general thinking on the use of octane booster in an L81? I've read the booster is a waste of money and just use high octane from the pumps but just want to get some opinions from actual C3...
Welcome to the world of 81's
CSTARR89...welcome to a great world. My '81 has been in the family 24 years and I am still impressed with the looks of this car. It's not the fastest kid on the block but it sure is fun to drive. And I get more looks than many guys with the newer ones...now don't...
Bill,
The roof rack is not the chrome unit you may be thinking of. Mine is black plastic and consists of a center main piece, and two other pieces, with one attaching on each side where you can see a black grommet just above the rear wheel well.
The roof panels then rest on these units and...
Grommets/Screw holes on back of my 81 Vette
Just as the above post mentioned, the holes there are for a roof rack for carrying the T-Top roof panles. I use it all the time as it gives me all the space in the back I need when I take the roof off. If you want I can take some pics of the rack...
Pics of my 1981 from Prince Edward Island
Hey ya'll
Here are some pics of my C3. Has anyone ever changed their 2-1-2 exhaust on an 81 to run it stright back to the mufflers on both sides? This would eliminate the catalytic converter.
Thanks again for the kind welcome.
Hey there,
Just joined the CAC after reading many of the posts over the past month. I bought my 1981 a year ago from my Father who owned it since new. Wanted to keep it in the family. Now on the hunt for an '01 convertible with the same colour (yellow on camel/tan interior). The goal is to...
