Looking for mechanic in SF Bay Area

Picked the car up the other day. So far everything is running very well. This place looks the part of the true vette specialist. Like I may have said earlier, they are working on some really nice cars, and they kept me informed on progress, etc. In my case the mechanic, and I use the term...

Just took a look at that site Corvette sho'fr Looks like a nice idea. One thing I did see right off was that the address for Precison Motive is wrong. They've moved and their new address is 25789 Dollar Street, Hayward, CA 94544 (510) 886-0789 I should pick up my car tonight or tomorrow...

Looking for mechanic in SF Bay Area

I'm looking for referrals to a good vette mechanic here in San Francisco Bay Area. I need someone to replace my rear manifold intake gasket and I'm not about to take to the mechanic that did the head gasket job. That's another story altogether entirely. We'll see what the B.A.R. says when...

    Again--if it's not one thing it's another!!!

After I had a head gasket job I noticed a few days later smoke coming from under my hood and actully blowing into the car. I took it in and was told it looked like some oil sensor...it wasn't. Then another shop said it looked like it was coming from a catalytic. Now I'm wondering if someone...

    Paying your mechanic up front?

This is uncalled for. You don't know me sir, and I'd appreciate you not revert to calling him a monkey or that I'm sick in the head.

    Paying your mechanic up front?

Appreciate all the replies. There is recourse here in California for those that feel they got screwed by a mechanic. I'm not there yet. So far the shop has been reasonable but I also think that after the job's done to my satisfaction I will find another mechanic to turn to. As far as the deposit...

    Paying your mechanic up front?

I'll admit it's been a long time since I've had to take a car to a mechanic. I blew the head gasket on it and decided to have him do a valve job since I'm closing in on 109K miles. He called to tell me that 1. The car would be with him 2-3 weeks. Seems a little long if I had to guess. He...

    Hello out there!

Hello people. My name's Vince and I am the somewhat proud owner of a 1987 Convertible. This is my second Corvette and I love them in general. I've already asked a question about my car and had some great opinions/advice with a little humor/sarcasm included. It's nice to be able to communicate...

    Blowing smoke after oil change

Just to clear up the 15 hours, now they're quoting more than the 15. I'm going to have them do a valve job while they're at it. So, now I find out that they want my car for 2-3 weeks. I really hope they're as good as they claim to be. Thanks for trying to get that raise for me and the scary...

    Blowing smoke after oil change

Thanks everyone. Got her to a shop yesterday and got the call this morning. It is the head gasket. Could have been worse I guess. I should have been a mechanic. They quoted me 15 hours of labor which sounds reasonable. Tim to hit the boss for a raise now :/ Thanks again and have a great week!

    Blowing smoke after oil change

Hello out there! Glad I ran into this forum. read a lot of what everyone has to say and thought I'd throw this at you. My first mistake was trusting Jiffy Lube to do an oil change. I was in a hurry because I'd planned a weekend trip. They finsished the job, and I was on my way. Not very far...
