The coolant did certainly look like a chocolate milkshake, a pretty gross chocolate milkshake. But I did not notice much of a drop in the coolant level. And as I mentioned earlier, the car runs dangerously hot so I didn't really notice an oil smell. I guess I should just do the fluids over again...
Ok, I'm sorry I was a bit vague with this. I flushed the coolant system and refilled it with the right amount of clean coolant. The oil and filter were also changed. I then drove it for a while and later saw that the coolant again became a mukky brown color and the oil level was well over what...
Hey all
It's been a while since I've been on here. College as been a little crazy and keeping me away from my vette. BUT I'm coming to the end of it and it'll soon be time to resume the construction. It's a 1980 coupe and when I last left it sitting at home under a cover, it was after the...
Thanks alot, I only recently found that my current engine has a cracked block (one of the many things the former owner managed to break on the car). I like I said I want to learn more about the internals of an engine, the small block chevy specifically, and I figured what better way than to...
Hey all,
As the thread title says, its time that my 80 gets a new engine. I was looking for some tips on where I should start on this project. I know a lot of people like crate engines, but I'm the kind of guy that likes to do it myself and Im looking to make a nice project out of this. Im 22...
Ive searched for awhile and couldnt really find anything related to this. Has anyone taken out the fuse block? i have a 1980 and i know how hard it is to get to at all. but im testing wires for shorts, and I wanted to know if the block is hard to remove.
anyone?anyone?
tonight i replaced the headlight switch and connector. the lights still dont work so i dove alil deeper into the wire situation. i tested the voltage going to the speedo/tach, and the only lights working on it are the blinkers and the little choke light. so im guessing there has to be a problem...
I have the same problem in my 80. Ive taken the dash entirely apart and replaced all the bulbs and printed circuits for the speedo/tach and the gauge cluster. that didnt fix anything. i checked all the wires and fuses and they seem to be good. so i just ordered a new light switch and connecter...
are you saying that corvette central sent me my connector wired wrong? ive found that same connector on several sites and it looks exactly the same on every one. Why is my original connector wired different than the one i bought? I may just be missing something obvious. but the wires that come...
the old and new switch are pretty much identical.
The old connector was white and has black spots on it as if it was burnt up. that picture is the new connector i ordered. The old connector has a white and black wire, which the new one does not. and it also doesnt have two orange wires like...
Hey all. i got a 1980 corvette. i bought it 2 years ago and have never had working dash lights (this includes speedo, tach, and all the gauges in the cluster). The fuses are good. Ive replaced all the printed circuits and bulbs. The wires look fine. Dont get me wrong...bubba has definately been...
i believe they were rebuilt with the stock bushings, and we did use the steels caps, but now that i think about it, we may have tightened those without the body on, because we did the suspension work on just the bare chassis, would that have any difference?? im not sure, because it was awhile...
Hi, i have a question thatd id imagine would be an easy one for anyone whos redone their suspension sooo.... i recently replaced alot of suspension components and sent the half shafts, trailing arms and strut rods to Van Steel to get them re built. i got it all back put it all on, and now...
I've been having a problem with the light in my 1980 corvette. The brake lights don't work, and the blinkers blink really slow. i dont know if these problems coincide with each other. there is power going through the fuse when the car is off and when its on. all the wires going around...
