Anyone ever seen an aluminum pilot pushing installed in their car? Mine appears to have on. It's definitely not bronze. :) Also anyone no of a way to get the old one out without taking the clutch off?

When I bought this car, the previous owner said that the tans was rebuilt, and the clutch was replaced not long before the car was parked for 20 years. I pulled the trans because it was leaking. . .and found that it was rebuild by a monkey. Pulled the bell housing and the clutch looks new...
First of all, it's good to be back! After two years of no Corvette in my life, I'm finally working on the car again. Moving the family and having two small kids doesn't help with time in the garage. :)
Ok, so here is the problem. . .and this happens when the car is stationary with the...
Time for my 1970 coupe to go to a new home. Attached you will find a document containing all the detail that you would want to know about this car. . .as well as all the work I've done to the car since I purchased it in 2007. It also lists the few things that it needs. . .that I have not...
What should the distance be between the ground and the front wheel arches? Who much space should there be between the top of the tire and the fender?
I just spent the winter doing a front end rebuild on my 1972 LS5. I used all new components. . .springs, shocks, bushings, ball joints...
I have a 1972 LS5, p/s, and a/c car. Needless to say, the v-belt routing is complex with the P/S pump, A/C compressor, and Alternator. . .all having their own belts. That said, I've noticed something on my car that I'm not sure is correct or ok.
In the top of the front cross member there is...
Working on my barn found 1972 LS5 with PS and A/C. I'm just about ready to start the re-assembly of the front of my engine. In the process I would like to replace the v-belts. Looking at old previously installed belts showed that I have a mix mash of belt brands and dimensions.
My first...
Can some one with a 1972 LS5 post a photo of the upper radiator to hood seal. . .in particular the ends of the seal and how the are mounted? Right now, mine just wants to rest right up against the hood opening. And I think it will get crushed. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello all!
I'm still trying to root cause my misfire at idle from my passenger side bank. Here is a video of what it sounds like:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_pNIEegRt0
The driver side runs nice and smooth. . .and the puffs at the exhaust pipe are all even and nice.
The passenger side...
Hello all!
I've been working on a project car for a while (72 big block). . .and when i finish running it. . .most of the time I would hear a gurgle hiss kind of noise. . .followed by a metal ticking / pinging noise for a few second (may be 15) after the car is shut off. The ticking / pining...
So I have a 1970 small block LT-1 car with an Allen's Exhaust 2.5" system with their Off Road mufflers. I loved the sound so much that I bought the exact same system for my 1972 LS-5 big block car. After I installed the system. . .I was VERY disappointed with the sound. VERY quiet. . .and not...
I noticed recently that my project car did not have the front lower plastic air foil (whatever it's called). So I bought one. When I went to install it. . .I noticed that the two large center bolts that mount the lower bumperets and air foil to the core support. . .are missing.
Anyone know...
I have a Small Block 70 and a Big Block 72.
On my small block, I installed an Allen's OFF ROAD exhaust. . .and it sounds fantastic!!! A nice deep thumping sound at idle. LOVE IT!!
I just installed the exact same exhaust on my Big Block car. . .and I am annoyed. . .it's dead quiet when...
Hey, does anyone know if anyone makes pre-made Header to cross member pipes?
I'm replacing my exhaust with a set of Off Road pipes and muflers. The issue is that I have headers on my car. So the front pipes that come with the set. . .normally connect to the manifolds.
Do I have to cut and...
Hey all,
I thought I would share my experience with everyone. . .in the hopes that it will prevent someone else from making my mistake.
I recently bought an old Holley Carb off of e-bay. All the parts were there, but clearly the Carb had not been used in decades. Covered in grim, webs, and a...
Hello all!
I've got a numbers matching 1972 big block car. The origional quadrajet is pretty far gone (fuel bowl has corroded very badly). I have future plans to get it restored (if even possible). In the mean time, this car is in a pretty poor state, with all kinds of wrong or butched parts...
I know you do not want lash on hydraulics. . . :)
I just want to know if the procedure that John co-wrote for setting valve lash at 90 BTDC and ATDC will work for finding the base lobe on a stock GM LS-5 cam. The document seemed to imply this. . .but it was not 100% clear for big block cams...
My quadrajet is down and out. In the meantime. Ive aquired a holley 6211 800 cfm spreadbore. Anyone know the correct way to connect my power brake booster line?
The carb manual says the the boss on the back of tje holley is for a gulp valve which my 72 454 does not have. The boss is also...
Any easy(er) tricks to getting at and pulling the blower motor? I really do not want to remove the outer AC box just to get at it. Can I get at it from the fender vent on my 72? The reason is that few mouse made a home in there. I want to pull the motor and wheel out. . .clean the area...
