Editorial: The Chevy Corvette Must Die

After reading the full article and about half of the replies (don't have four more hours to finish reading them all), it seems to me like the logical conclusion based on all the evidence presented on that site being factual is to turn over control of General Motors to the team responsible for...

How To Use A Clay Bar

I know I'm right when I'm in agreement with Junkie!!! Mine's only been a month and a half, but yeah, it's still looking incredible from that clay bar treatment.

    Clunk when shifting to drive

First thing I'd check would be the transmission mount. Stock it's rubber and tends to get weak and break pretty often. If it's bad, get a urethane replacement, they're not much more $ and last a lot longer.

How To Use A Clay Bar

Just did the clay bar thing today for the first time. My '92 has 120k miles through Illinois corn fields (big bugs jump out at night) and the paint was really starting to look old. I wax regularly (mothers) and use bug and tar remover as needed, but the car has never looked as good as it does...

    Vortex Rammer

update Ok, the order I placed on 4/21 that was supposed to arrive 4/25 finally arrived 5/8. 17 days? Hmm, ok. Not the greatest, but I've already gone over their reasons. Anyway, I installed it yesterday. Cutting the radiator shroud is easy with a dremel using a drill bit. Assembling...

    Vortex Rammer

I think you'll be pleased with the 1.6 roller rockers. Between those, and a custom exhaust with x pipe and flowmaster single chambers, I cut .2 off my 1/4 et. I have a cousin getting married in Bowling Green this year. I'll have to check the dates, maybe it will be during a special event...

    Vortex Rammer

Well after being reassured on the phone a week ago that my part would arrive Friday the 25th, Monday at the very latest, I called Breathless to get a UPS tracking number so I could stalk my new air box on the 'net. Much to my dismay, I was told it had not shipped yet. The woman on the phone...

    '96 LT1 Coupe sells for $5,100....

If both you and the new owner start smoking crack together and the car goes back on the market, I'll even throw in a 10% finder's fee for you! I payed 13k for my 92 back when it had 50k miles and was all original. Guy I bought it from worked at a dealership and got a promotion that included a...

    Leaking Injector

Oh, and one more thing. NO SMOKING!! If the power is out, don't do this job by candlelight...

    Leaking Injector

Changing injectors on LT1 I just did injectors on my LT1 a week ago. It was way easier than I expected. Relieve fuel pressure. Pop the plastic fuel rail covers off, remove 4 bolts holding the fuel rails to the manifold, unplug 8 injectors, lift the fuel rails straight up (may take considerable...

    Vortex Rammer Cold Air System

I realize this is an old post and I appologize for dragging it back out. This post gave me an idea though. Has anyone ever seen a dyno in a wind tunnel? I know it would be an expensive setup just to test ram air kits... Just a thought from a guy with very little knowledge and a lot of...

    Gears ??

Pretty much, yeah. That's where you get the ratio from, the number of teeth on the ring gear : number of teeth on the pinion gear. So hypothetically speaking if you had 41 teeth on a ring gear and 10 teeth on the pinion, it would be 41:10, which simplifies to 4.10:1. Very quick and dirty...

    Vortex Rammer

just ordered one! I have used cold/ram air in the past with several different cars ranging from a friend's V6 mustang to my 99 trans am. Every car I've used it on has had some change. The only one that went the wrong way was the V6 mustang because I think dual 4" inlets was a bit too much air...

    Gears ??

Unless you're a very capable mechanic with experience aligning parts to the .005 inch, a gear swap in a street car is best left to the professionals. That said, I have a 3.75 ring & pinion set waiting to go into my 92. My first "toy" car was a 91 Camaro and going from a 2.73 to a 3.42 helped a...

    LT4 The C5 LS1 outran the C4 LT4 in every way ...

Personal experience The first time I took my (then stock) LT1 coupe to the 1/8 mile strip, I was lined up against a 2002 convertible during time trials. We both had automatics, and I have no idea if he had any mods but can only assume he was stock because I ran 8.8's all day long and he ran...

could a ram air system help????

I used to have a 99 trans am (not ws6) and my friend had a 99 camaro SS, with the fake ram air hood. Both had 3:23 gears and 4 speed autos, he had SLP exhaust, I had flowmaster. We both ran right at 13.80 in the quarter, until I did the free ram air mod to my air box. The next time we went to...
