    ? What's HardTop Worth ?

I'm not an expert, but that is probably a good deal. Those hardtops are quite rare, and almost never in great condidition. -Gööney0

    Original Car Alarm

alarm horn Mine works ('72). The alarm horn is bad though. It honks faintly and only a few times. After searching for quite some time I finally found a rebuilt one! Now I just have to install it. I had to replace one jamb switch, and the lock in the back too. I didn't have the old key...

    330 hp vortec heads

Vortex When I was shopping for motors, I couldn't use the Vortex head anyway. They don't fit my 6 exhaust-bolt manifolds. Votex heads have 8 bolts, and also allow for EGR and such. The ZZ4 is great! I don't know if emissons would be an issue for you with a '76. Depends on the state I...

    Not so honest business

wwilkins, Sorry to hear about that. I'd flip out bigtime. I have had good luck with these guys: http://www.vettebay.com/ They have used parts on Ebay all the time too. -Gööney0

    awesome "Merlin" auctioned @ B-J

Perhaps it would be better to keep the topic on the car and not on the owner. After all... this isn't jerkactioncenter.com :) I think the car is cool. -Gööney0

    71 interior replacement decision

I guess it depends. If its gonna be a show car I would go "correct" on everything you can. If not, do whatever you want. Its your car after all. I don't think the value would change much either way. Worst case it would lower the value based on the replacement cost of the seats and door...

    1971 Vette VS. 1972 Vette

From my experience the 1972 is usually less valuable than 1970-1971. I think this is due to the Net horsepower rating. This is why I bought a 72. Less expensive than the other two, but 99.9% the same car. Mine doesn't have an orignial engine anyway. The whole "last year for" thing adds to...

    New guy with old car

You've owned that car for 33 years! Thats incredible! Good think you didn't cheap out and buy a Vega. :L Although if you had you wouldn't still be making payments. ;LOL Nice car you should keep it for another 33 I think. -Gööney0

    high compression

ZZ4 Mine is 10:0 / 1. I use 92 or better. The only problem I have is on very hot humid days. The engine will "surge" a little. ( idle speed changes by 100rpm or so up and down) The engine must be completely warmed up for full power. This takes a good 10 minutes of driving to get to...

Sharks and Radar - my take

Mac, Thanks for the explaination. Good to know. Bearing that in mind, is are those little radar "warning" signs acurate? I always get a different number that the spedo shows. Of course the spedo is also 32 years old. :) If the cops are using the same radar as those warning signs...

    Such a thing

My 2 Cents From what i've read in the past: The "T-Top" was appeared on the 68 Coupe first. I don't believe any other car had them before that. The 68 was orginally supposed to have a one piece top. (like an '84) I've never seen GM call them "t-tops," always "Removeable Roof Panels." I...

    Modifications

Mods... I guess my 72 doesn't really fit into the catagories very well. When I bought it the #'s didn't match and the car had "incorrect" blue paint. (should be Classic White) While mine isn't going in a museum I've tried to keep things stock and correct. I don't want to have a 72 thats...

74' Vette Seat Belt Problems - Help!!!

I did about the same thing last year. The retractor had rust on both sides of the metal spools. I used brushes and a dremel tool to remove the rust, then I used powered graphite to lube. The graphite won't cake up with dirt, or dry out like oil would. I then spent about an hour working...

    Commemorative Coupe or Arctic White?

I've always found white and silver to be the most forgiving. I haven't had a tan or brown car though! :) Dark shiny colors are tough to keep clean, and show scratches, BUT they look twice as nice when they are clean. I like blue best, but the blue paint highlights tan dust. Pollen not so...

How many of you C3 owners have a Fire extinguisher in your vette?

I don't have one, but I really really should! I hate to admit it, but sometimes I don't bother to disconnect the battery. :( On top of that I have a Holley carb! I don't really want to hook up anything complex. Perhaps I'll get something I can just put on the battery terminal. -Gööney0

    Ammeter

I believe one wire goes to the horn relay, the other goes to the starter soleniod. {according to the 72 service manual anyway} -Gööney0

    mershons/vintage vettes

I haven't bought a car from any of these dealers, but one thing i've noticed about most of them... They advertise incorrect information! I've seen countless ads for 1977 Stingrays, 78's with "optional" tilt-tele etc. etc. They often describe features as rare which are quite common. ProTeam...
