you're going to love this one.
2001 Vert is what it is.
The antenna was acting up so I thought I'd pull the mast (yep, the drive cable too) and look it over.
I got a new antenna cause the old drive ribbon/cable was getting chewed a bit.
I put the new antenna in. It extends perfectly but...
Indeed so Lowflyer, you're right, the easy is the good.
However. I'm not so sure that WD40 (HUGE fan of the stuff is what I am) is the correct stuff in this application over the long haul.
I've seen cleaning with alcohol and then waxing recommended. It works peachy too. The issue with the...
Vetteman,
I'm curious. Are you getting such a SUPER deal on this car that you've not considered buying one that doesn't need so much work?
C5s are going for pretty reasonable prices these days. Just bought Judy a VERY nice, 2002, 40k mile convertible for $23k that needs NOTHING.
You might...
Good day folks,
Looking for a battery cover (the one that covers the entire battery area), black plastic, what have you.
Also need a CAI for the same car, it's an 02. Prefer Halltech but will talk about anything. I'm NOT interested in a Varaam. :mad
Thanking you in advancing...
Jim
If you're talking about the back tilt lever, it's got a circlip that holds it in place.
Once you remove the circlip it comes right off.
The service manual tells you how to go about removing it.
Please consider supporting this invaluable resource.
Hope that helps,
Jim
Mallet,
I gotta say that's amazing. You should be proud of yourself and your lady, the two of you deserve kudos, lot's of 'em.
I just called Judy down to the puter room so she could see what you've done. We both keep a good thought, truly.
Thanks for a great series of posts.
Jim and Judy.
... shall we?
I don't believe mine is working. I've been told that the headlights need to be on in order for it to dim SO, I've tried it with the headlights on, and at NIGHT (I know, I know, call me crazy...) :ohnoes
It ain't doin' nuttin'. Anyone have any idea how to go about fixing it...
JUST what LLC5 said. You've got a broken piece inside the drive.
Remove the right, outside taillight assembly and remove the motor unit (you'll see how it comes out) then take it apart and remove the broken piece.
THEN do your mast install again and you'll be golden.
Ask me how I know this...
JnJ,
Buy a replacement mast/drive from the antenna people on epigbay.
They are $19.99 with free shipping.
Heck, it even comes with instructions.
hth,
Jim
Here you are Kane:
Remo, uh, cause I HATED 'em? I like my car a LOT more now.
I've gotta get to Home Depot and pick up a couple of those little, black plastic plugs for the holes.
