    trans oil leak

Dang! Went out to the garage to take a look under the car and see the red stuff on the floor! The car hasn't been started in about 3 weeks but when I was starting it everyday there were no visible leaks. This sounds like the dipstick seal I am reading about here. I seem to remember my old 71...

Replacing outside door handle on 74 model

Update. The pin that goes through the handle (the flapper part) had worked it's way forward and was keeping the handle from coming out. I took a small screw driver and was able to get the pin back into position and the handle came right out. Rick

Replacing outside door handle on 74 model

I have no idea what's holding the thing in there. I can't see anything but the handle will come up about 1/8th of an inch out of the door hole and that's it. I have never seen anything like it.

Replacing outside door handle on 74 model

OK,so I take the door panel off, remove the 2 nuts off the handle and remove the linkage rod. That should be all I need to do to remove the handle right? Well it moves but will not come out. Is there something else that I am missing? Rick

74 L-82-trying to get a little more power

I am going to put the timing light on it later today and see what's up. So I set the idle at 2800 RPMs,right? Then set the timing. BTW,I have the 74 350 L-82 and it's 9.1 comp. so should I be running regular or ethel? Rick

74 L-82-trying to get a little more power

I am pretty sure it's like HEI dist. Just checked and it's a Delco Remy dist. No points or coil wire. I did reroute the vac. advance from the carb. to the intake. Rick

74 L-82-trying to get a little more power

74 L-82-trying to get a little more power

So it seems that if I want to get the HP up to around 325 there's pretty much no getting around replacing the cam. I don't really want to change the rear end and raise the RPMs since I like to cruise at 70-75 and I am not looking to smoke the tires everytime I take off. I just want more power to...

74 L-82-trying to get a little more power

Ok so the engine is pretty much stock. The dist. has been changed out ( no more points:)) but everything else is stock. The engine was rebuilt less than 10,000 miles ago and sounds good and tight. This set up from the factory is what,260 hp or so? How hard is it to get this up to 325 hp or...

Got a problem-no power to anything

I think I will just search for all the links and replace them. What size are the wires that go to the starter post? They both look like the same size. Rick

Got a problem-no power to anything

Yes,I will wiggle the wires and see if I can fine the problem. I know it's just a matter of time before this happens again. Can I buy fusible links at any parts store or is it a dealer item? Also am I looking for a certain amperage link? Thanks Rick

Got a problem-no power to anything

I just looked and and checked both sides of the fuse link. I didn't get any juice on either side. So,just for the heck of it I tried the ignition. It started! I didn't do anything and haven't even looked at the car since yesterday. The only thing I can even think of is that when I touched the...

Got a problem-no power to anything

Just checked the hot wires going to the starter and do not see any fusible links there. Maybe someone took them out? I do see where 2 wires have been put together and taped. All I see is what looks like some type (off white/yellowish plastic) of link where the largest small starter wire connects...

Got a problem-no power to anything

Thanks,I will be checking the fuse link shortly. I didn't know there was one on the starter terminal. I bet that's the problem. Rick

Got a problem-no power to anything

I was changing spark plugs and hit the starter post with my ratchet (spark). Finished the job and went to start it up but no power at all. Is there a fuse link somewhere that cuts all power off? Rick

    Painting a 74 corvette

Nice! I think I will be doing a complete color change. Now,what colors go good with the new medium saddle interior I am installing? Red? Blue? Green? Black? Anything but Brown!!!

    Painting a 74 corvette

Ok here's where I am at. My car is the orig. 74 brown color. I really don't care for the color. I know if you were restoring to original stock condition you would want to re-paint the same color. If I do a color change how bad will that effect the resale value of the car in the future. I am not...

Ported Vs. Manifold Source: Vacuum Advance

Where's the best place on the manifold to tap in? Mine vacuum is connected to the carb. and the only port on the manifold is where the brake booster ect. is connected.

Cracked exhaust manifold-what should I do?

Thanks for responding. Oklahoma does not have any inspections, they did away with them about 5 yrs. ago. I also want headers for the extra Hp they supposed to give. I see that they should add 15-25 extra HP. But,it could be the donut as I was feeling around down there right after I started the...
