Had the same thing happen to me last year. Took the offedfing wheel off , removed rotor and several rusted pieces to the e-brake return spring fell out. Replaced same spring with new stainless steel one. Found out which side it was by touching the rim on the rear, the hot on is the bad side.
Pretty straight forword. The filter is held on with a large screw, just be sure to notice how the filter goes back. Make sure that all of the surfaces that will come in contact with the new pangasket are clean. I only put an adhesive on the pan and not the transmission surface. Then torque down...
transmission oil
I dropped my trans pan last summer. I is a messy job, it is best to have a large pan to catch the oil. My 79 was on rampe, changed filter, new gasket. It took 5.5 quarts of oil to fill it up. I recomend adding five , run to heat oil and add more as necessary. This was on a th350.
Thank you for all the help. As soon as it warms up again I will check on all locations. I am a 6'6" person and old so getting down low enough to look under the dash takes warm weather and some work.Must have taken a stupid pill and forgot to look in my AIM book. Thanks for the reminder.
I think the horn relay has gone bad, but I am having trouble locating it. I know where it is not . The vette is a 1979 T-Top. The horn and radio stopped working about the same time. Fuzes are good, hazard flashers work , they use same DC source as the horn. Any ideas would be helpful.
Dead battery
I have a 79 and if the battery remains connected it will be flat in 4 days. With a disconnect on the positive side my battey was good after sitting for four months. Maybe the disconnect is not working. Open the switch and try the horn, If the horn sounds the disconnect is not working.
Always wanted a corvette. Two years ago my wife told me a friend of hers had a 79 T-Top for sale 8K, Dark Blue. Went to look at it and bought it on the spot. My First and only vette. Best thing that happened to me besides wife, 3kids, 8grand kids and retirement in 09. :-)
I have an early 79 with a Mexican replacement engine. The only electrical connections on my q-jet is for the A/C when on ( which does not currently work) Wher I burn regulay gas, do not run it long enough to heat up, shut it off it will attempt puy-put. When I shifted to the mid-blend ( 89...
79 cluster removal
The center cluster where the gauges are is held in by 4 or more screws and will come out without removing the console. It helps to remove the glove box to reach the connections on the radio. Be careful removing the plug that connects to the flimsy backplane the connections...
