Bingo
I've managed to fill my C6 in one shot, using the 'upside-down-nozzle' method, as suggested by one of the guys in the U K Corvette Club.
So that's one problem out of the way for a while......
Take care out there
J.C.
I have the situation where the gas delivery nozzle shuts off when the tank(s) on my '07 are only 5/8 full. At first, I thought it was a sensitive delivery pump at my
local gas station, but the problem occurs at other gas stations whenever I try to fill up.
I have the GM Service Manuals for...
Edvette - Ferry (LD Lines hi-speed cat) ex Portsmouth 0830 Thursday a.m. and driving to Mayenne for overnite stop in French countryside. We'll rumble into St. Saturnin from the north west on Fri.a.m.
C u there!
Best rgds - J.C.
One of the few benefits of living in England - I can easily get to Le Mans! Will be at St. Saturnin on the Friday prior to the 24h race where the Euro Corvette gang (there's quite a few of us!) will be there to pay tribute to the Fitch/Cunningham C1. Lance Miller has done an incredible job, esp...
Tks for your input Hib (that name rings a bell - where have I seen it before - Corvette Fever?). Anyway, I fully concur with your battery theory, and my unit behaves as we would expect: 12.5 to 12.6v.d.c. across the terminals when 'standing' and 13.7v after being charged for 3 hrs. with the...
Tks C4C5 and Tim. I didn't really make myself very clear in the previous post - my wife interrupted me ('Dinners ready....'). My question really should have been: how do you remove the black plastic cover over the 'start/crank' relay? I tried squeezing it, and (gently) prying it off with a...
Thanks C4C5!
The car started and ran perfectly today; batt. voltage was 12.45 prior to starting. I'll put it on charge tonite, but will buy a replacement next week. (The battery is AC Delco type 8538; 590CCA).
Here's a question: there's a 'start/crank' relay on the internal fuse panel in the...
Tks Tim - I'll definitely try a new battery. My '07 is not driven every day, although I always make a point of giving it a run at least once a week.
Best rgds - J.C.
I think I'll take your advice and fit a new battery, if only to eliminate one possible cause of the problem. I haven't used the car today ('rode hard and put up wet' yesterday!), but I have just checked the batt. voltage: reads 12.66v.d.c which seems OK to me.
Tks again 'Orange North Tx' - I...
Weds. morning after battery on 'float' all night: car fired up first time, no problem. Drove to supermarket, shopped, car started OK again. Drove 150mi to South West (great drive!)- parked for lunch: took about 10 attempts to get the starter-motor to 'kick in'. Damn. Thursday (yesterday)...
Tks guys - someone else (Tom Falconer, actually, who runs 'Claremont Corvette', and is a published Corvette author here in UK) suggested the battery (the main 12v item, not the fob).
I didn't suspect it, because when the starter eventually activates, the cranking is 'quick' and the engine fires...
Trans in 'park'.....(it's a 6-sp paddle-shifter); foot on brake; green 'start' light glowing....press the button: NIX. Reverts to 'accessory mode'.
Anyone else experienced this? Eventually get car started, by opening/closing doors etc. and trying several times. Currently unable to get GM Shop...
Happy 2010
All the best to everyone from merrie olde England.
My new year is getting off to a good start: I collect my 2007 C6 (Z51/3LT/MXO) on 11th January. Been 'vetteless since August '09 when I sold my 1992 LT1. Talk about withdrawal symptoms...!
The C6 is an import from Fla, incidentally...
Thanks, guys - that what I was hoping (and expecting) to hear.
I look after my motor well anyway - it gets fresh Mobil 1 every 3000mi and I don't beat it to death, so with luck it will outlast me.....
Off to Europe next week - Corvette FAME in the Netherlands (Valkenburg). Hundreds of 'vettes...
What is the current status with regard to repairing/re-building the LT1? Are spares fully available?
I am asking because I was talking to an engine guy at our U.K. Corvette Club 'Nationals' yesterday, and he said, in effect, 'look after your LT1 and don't blow it up because it can't be...
I recently fixed the driver's side h/light on my 1992 LT1. The problem was the delrin bushes in the motor/gearbox assy. Sounds like yours may be a simple d.c. supply problem, though. When I removed the whole light assembly to work on it on my bench, I first had to dis the electrical connections...
Headlamp repair
Thanks for replies so far.
Have today built test-rig with 12v.d.c. power supply etc. and await 'delrin' bushings....will let you know how the re-assembly goes in due course.
(I think you are correct about the power 'switch-off' Mike: it seems that when the motor can't drive the...
;helpI have removed the left h/light from my 1992LT1, as it was not lifting or retracting properly. The GM Service Manual doesn't go as far as the motor/gear-set tear-down process, which I have done, and found the 3 Delrin bushings were totally zapped. Looking at the Mid-America/Ecklers...
C5 wheels on C4
I didn't respond originally as you say you don't like 5-spokes.
For what it's worth, I have put C5 MY2000 'thin'-5-spoke FRONT wheels(i.e.17-inch dia.) all round on my 1992 LT1. (Silver painted, not chrome). I also fitted the 'c5' sized tyres, i.e. 245/45ZR17 (Goodyear NCT5)...
