    Hard Top Storage

I took some styrofoam that came with a new computer and made "feet" for the front edge and stacked my hardtop in my basement. Covered it with a blanket that was not seeing any usage. I'd be concerned with cardboard or anything else that might absorb water/moisture to wick to the hardtop.

    tire advice??

Michelin PS A/S ZP's here- much quieter than GY's and runflat safety as well. And all-season because I drive year round.

    1968 vettes

You first stated that your friend had an all-original '68 convertible, which implied a kind of survivor status. Now you say that a two-to-one ratio of convertibles to coupes mean convertibles with a 1968 vintage are worth less. Is rarity a condition of desirability? Not in $8K cars. And if...

    1971 Vette VS. 1972 Vette

1971 was the last year for fiber optic warning lights. The only external difference between the 1971 and 1972 Corvettes is the amber front turn signals and chrome plating on the egg-crate grills on the 1972. 1972 was the only year for Corvette Big Block engines to have no horse power sticker...

    1968 vettes

If anyone cannot sell an all-original chrome bumper roadster for $8K, it has issues you or the seller have not identified.

    Transmission shifts slow

Check the hoses at the modulator and the intake manifold for vacuum leak. Did it run okay before you switched the modulator? If so, that would be my next check point. Good luck!

    'Master cylinder gasket/seal'

You're in luck. Art's Corvette Parts is close to you. http://artscorvetteparts.com I had a heck of a time finding the brake booster plunger shaft seal but he had them. $7.50 each, part ETG8290. Edit- I see that those are listed for '68-'73 and you have a '76. Call him to see if they'd work...

    Tires for a '71?

I'll argue for the stock size. I went through the same thought process when I needed to replace the tires on my '68. I thought about going bigger but did not want the wandering, rubbing, clearance or speedometer error issues I've read about with oversized tires. I went with the stock size for...

Replace front tires only, or all 4?

My fronts were toast but the backs still had tread when I opted for four new Michelin PS A/S ZP's and a 4-whl alignment. Couldn't be happier. Maybe you could buy all four and sell off the backs to defray the big downstroke. By all means, with the cost involved, get the alignment. And I've...
