Dave did you run a new ground on Both wires? D1 and D3? Sounds like you missed D3 the first time and your fix finally grounded the D3 ground, the ambient override sensor ground.
Randy there is no Black ground wire from the dash thru the firewall to the bell housing. It is Black with a white...
From the AZ Code:
"Curb idle test. The test shall be performed with the vehicle in neutral for 1981 and newer vehicles. For 1980 and older vehicles, the test shall be performed in neutral, except that if the vehicle has an automatic transmission, drive shall be used. Engine RPM shall be within...
Dawn, Wait.....
What is the idle test limit on rpm in AZ? Here in Nev it is 1200 rpm. My car also fails at 550 but passes under load. I instructed the tech to 'high' idle the car during the test to the allowable limit. He ran it at 1150 rpm for the idle test and it passed no problem. I also...
228 was/is how Chevy got the engine hot enough to pass emissions tests. Easy fix is to install a manual switch and turn the fan on when you want. I turn mine on at 200. In the summer here, with the AC on I turn on both fans at 200. You can also spend more money on sensors, reprogamming, etc if...
That happened to me also. Guy pulled up beside and said I only had the center light. While checking the switch at the pedal I noticed the wires run into a connector right where the top of your feet rest. It looked cockeyed. I pushed together and I then had all my brakes lights. I'm guessing I...
Disconnect the tan wire that goes to the oil pressure switch. Turn the ignition on. The reading should be 80 plus or minus 3. Read 80? Next jump the tan wire to ground. The display should now read zero. If that is what happens you have a bad oil pressure sensor.
Let us know how it turns out.
Is the old harness still in the console? See if the old switch is in there somewhere. It may have just worked lose from the shifter and fell into the console. You might get lucky. If not you are going to need to get some type of connector or splice direct into the harness.
Good Luck!! :beer
Do you have any code 14 or 15, Coolant sensor? If the sensor is not reading the ECM automatically turns on the fan to run to avoid overheating. The second thing I would check is the fan relay on the drivers side wheel well. Make sure it is connected well. The relays are under $20.00 and yours is...
Our 86's do not have that capability to be computer tested. Your gonna get the low idle/high idle, sniffer in the tailpipe test. Make sure the car is good and hot, over 220 if you can get it there. Fresh tune up including plugs. Let it run while you are in line and keep the hood closed.
I pass...
Edmond,
Exactly, mine was broken/cracked about 80% of the way around. I could move it and it would break contact with the sensor. No sensor reading then the ECM thinks the engine is not hot yet, even tho' it was and keeps it in open loop, then as the engine vibrations make contact again and...
To quote Haynes "Damage to ths sensor will affect the operation of the entire fuel injection system." Check to see if you have a Code 14 or 15.
Mines a Cali car so I had to move a air pump outta the way first. All told it took me about 20 minutes. Take your rad cap off to so you have no...
The 24 pin connector only connects the dash to the Driver Information Center.
Where did you run the new D1/3 ground wire too? Did you check the ground to see if you have a good ground? Digital meter reading should be zero or 10.0 ohms for a good ground. A poor ground would give a high...
