If you decide to run without the computer you will need to change the carb and distributor to pre computor units. Not sure if your TCC will still work or not, but if the computor is bad now its probably not working anyways. Pay the 100 for a replacement computor you'll be further ahead..
I hate to say it but I think your computor is shot. Maybe you can borrow a good used one just to check it and be sure. Mine would do that same thing however when I unplugged the 4 pin distributor connector (like when you set your timing) the light would stay on constantly, ended up being the...
Yes, you can leave the carb on the manifold but it really will not save you that much work. The distributor will have to come out to remove the manifold. Mark the postion of the rotor before pulling it out and as long as no one turns the engine over it should go in the same position as it came...
I asked this question on another forum and thought I would ask here too. I may be transfered to Clearwater Fla. and am wondering if the 81 will have to pass a emission test? My understanding is that Fla. no longer test vehicles. Tim
Cris,
Sorry to hear about your lost, you have provided all of us a lot of helpful information, I hope that you can find a way to heal your pain and stay active with your Corvette hobby. The criminals that did this to you will hopefully be judged for their lack of compassion to mankind....Tim

Those new Alum heads conduct heat much better then the iron heads. FWIW my fan comes on around 200 degrees, I really do not see a problem with the fan comming on early as long as the motor is reaching normal operating temps....Tim
Berry, There are several adjustments that have to be made, also each adjustment affects the other so you have to constantly keep a eye on things. Window adjustments are a PITA. If you don't have a manual then do a web search, I believe Willcox Corvette web site has the instructions in a PDF...
What I found on my car was that I would make the adjustments with the panel off and then after I put the panel on, the window would be out of adjustment. So I had to adjust with the panel off to get it close but not right on, then put on the panel and check the window. I don't put the screws in...
If you do not have a felt or rubber(aftermarket) seal on your door panel then you will have play in your window glass. Mine had play even after replacing the regulator parts. You are suppose to adjust the glass with the panel off, but the only way I could get mine to work is with the panel...
