    '66 bumpers & bonding strips

I love the C2's and have been looking at a couple that are for sale. However, the thought of buying a 50 year old car kind of scares me off. I realize that just about everything on them can be repaired - for a price - and that is the problem. So, I have a few questions for which help would be...

Fox Sports 1 to carry all of the LeMans race.

Yesterday I was watching the United Sports Car race from Detroit. The announcers announced that Fox Sports 1 would be televising the entire LeMans race. I was surprised at the when they said it because I couldn't find it in their schedule. Great news.

    24 hours of Lemans TV

In case the fox sports.com isn't working for someone or their coverage is bad there is another possibility to view the race. It is being carried by 24 Hours of Lemans TV. They are also posting some videos about the race, rules, drivers, safety, etc. Here is the link. At the top of the page...

    Sebring Video Availability

Last year you could watch a replay of the races on ESPN3 and/or through the ALMS site. Can it be done this year? I can't find a site that offers it.

    Oil - 10W30 v. 15W40

I have been looking for Shell Rotella T or Chevron Delo 400 LE in 10W30. All I can find is 15W40. Is 10W30 still made and would there be a problem using the 15W40 of either make in a '77 with about 43K miles? The car is driven April thru October.

Spare Tire Carrier - proper attachment.

I'm restoring my spare tire carrier and have a question about proper installation. I've looked at assembly diagrams in a few catalogs and they are not the same. One diagram shows a nut between the bolt and v bracket but, I don't think that is correct. My best guess, from the bottom up would...

Old Vette Radio - Fix It and Keep It

When I got my '77 it came with an aftermarket radio, amp, 6 disc changer and additional speakers in boxes in the back. The changer was behind the passenger seat so the seat couldn't be moved. The amp was in a storage compartment and the speakers took up a lot of room in the back. I took all...

What was wrong with the Vettes?

Disappointing race. The cars were strong, drivers performed well, no serious mishaps but, they simply didn't have the speed. I know they were using tires they were not all that accustomed, however, I can't believe that accounts for the slow pace. The Aston Martins were fast and too much for...

    Dexron 6 Compatability

I searched around the board but, couldn't find an answer to this question. I have a 1977 Vette that I've owned about a year. It has a small transmission fluid leak. I don't know what kind of fluid is in the car, but it has likely been replaced in the past. I want to add some fluid and the...

Corvette Wins Sebring - Fantastic Finish!!!

What a heck of a race. Lots of drama and a fantastic finish. Just great driving from Gavin, Milner and Westbrook. After great start by Gavin things took a turn for the worse. Fire in the dash from a shorted warning light (fixed in the pit by removing the dash and cutting the wires)...

    ALMS - What cars?

Does anyone know what cars will be included in the ALMS Grand Am class?

    Differential fluid and bolts??

The check engine light came on and I took my '04 (with 25,000 miles) in to the dealer. The mechanic checked the codes and said there was a faulty vent valve and bad gas cap. He replaced a solenoid $25, gas cap $21, and harness $31. Add the labor of $108 and the bill was $185. Then he said...

Corvette Pit Crew - what's wrong.

Corvette Racing's pit crew has long been considered to be the best there is. I'm not sure what has been going wrong this year. At LeMans they left off the wheel nut and today at Mosport the transmission/gearbox fails and there was a rather lengthy pit stop that caused them to lose several...

Corvette takes 2nd and 3rd at Lime Rock

Corvettes improved from their qualifying positions to finish 2nd and 3rd at Lime Rock. The race finished under caution with the vettes in hot pursuit of the Flying Lizard winner. The morning was very hot and humid and it looked like rain was on the way. The teams prepared rain tires but, the...

    Oil Dip Stick Tube

I'm somewhat baffled but, it is not the first time I've got a 77 L-48 automatic. I was checking the oil and the dip stick tube fell out. Searched around the forums and web but, I still have a couple of questions. Any help is appreciated. I looked at the hole in the block and it seems to...

Almost made a dumb mistake - lesson learned.

I recently got a nice low mileage '77 Yellow coupe. Love that bright yellow. Looking over car, I noticed a small light under the rear bumper. Thinking it was added by someone, I was going to take it off to keep more originality. Then, I learned from an excellent internet researcher, that...

    Speedometer cable lubricant.

I'm replacing the lower speedometer cable in a '77 with automatic and curise control. I'm wondering if it is advisible to lubicate the cable before it is installed. I have seen some recommendations that say it should be lubricated with liquid graphite (which, I think, dries to a powder) and...

    The spirit of Corvette

I know that not everyone is interested in racing but, there is a certain spirit that comes along with owning a Corvette. If you want to see that spirit in action go to the CAC racing forum and check out cor123"s post about Lemans where he/she includes links to a few videos about this year's...

    Carter Carburetor

Can someone tell me if Carter Carbs came as stock equipment on some 1977 Vettes? I know GM licensed Carter to produce some carbs for them but, I don't know if that was true for 1977.

    Quaker State with zinc added.

I notice (perhaps many of you alread know) that Quaker State is selling a 10w30 oil with zinc added for the older cars. As I have read in a few places, this type of oil is good to use in C3's.
