I dis-agree, I've been autocrossing for 15 years and I can quit anytime I want! :thumb
You may want to look into some NCCC autocrossing, I'm not sure where you are located, but then you are running against nothing but Vettes. And you can learn a whole lot from some of the other drivers, such as...
The rears are a "pain" but not that hard :ohnoes you just need patience, a few 3/8" socket universal joints, or better yet, a "wobbler" extension for 3/8" sockets. Not sure what they are really called, but it allows a small angle of swiviel action. There are 3 torx head bolts to take out, and...
Wheel Bearings
I have no idea.........I have a 96 with only 28,000 miles and have replaced the rears once, and both fronts twice. I do autocross the car, so that is my explanation for mine anyway. You cannot service the units, just replace em'
BTW: Rears are a real P.I.T.A. for me. damn torx...
NCCC "Rocks" in Rockford!!!!
Way to Go, Jack and Janet!!! :upthumbs
I have been one of Jack's competitors for about 5 years now, usually in a slightly differnt class, but both in C4 Corvettes. It's good to see recognition for persons involved in this "grassroots" form of racing, or...
Montoya passed 18 cars to get to Pruitt without touching any of them, the incident with Pruitt was just a little too aggressive of driving, he should have waited. He had 8 more laps to go, and as it turned out, there would have been about 4 "re-starts" during that time period.
If Tony...
I-70 Speedway in Odessa, MO.
Tom,
I-70 Speedway is a very tough track, I've been there many times back when the NASCAR Craftsmen Truck Series used to run there.
It's a high banked "bull-ring" kind of like Bristol Motor Speedway, only nobody parks in the infield so you can see the entire...
I'll pass that on to my SCCA buddies running Mazda Miata's!
I've installed a 30mm solid bar up front, poly bushings in bar and end links, lowered it, R-D racing "Camber-Brace", and "S-T Frame Support" (essentially a roll bar, not a cage) The springs are still stock, Bilstien shocks still...
It may have a crush gasket on an 86, later models used tapered seat type, if it's a gasket type, torque may be differnt.
Do you have the "aluminum heads" or cast iron?
Well! Don't throw the BEER away yet!
First, I find it quite simple to jack the car up high and secure with jackstands, then dis-connect battery and remove the starter (it's only 2 bolts!) and come in from the bottom with the spark plug socket and the 3/4" open end wrench as mentioned above...
I've gpt one for a 1976 to 1981 model? But I do not belive it will work on an 82.
I ran it on a 1980 with good success (off road only! :upthumbs )

Turbo-Hydramatic 400 transmission question:
1) On the drivers side of the case, about 1" above the pan flange, there is a wire harness type thing that plugs into the side of the case. What is it connected to? (wires) and What is it called? Mine is loose and appears to be contributing to a...
For Sale: This is an almost un-used piece I had in my 1980, which I have since sold. I put the stock unit back in for Bloomington and NCRS judging, then sold the car.
It is a "Custom Autosound" brand, model CVLV-601, which fits 77-82 Vettes in stock dash without cutting the dash up.
Unit started...
Anybody else?????
I'm looking at the upper RPM scale, say 3,000 up to 6,000 rpm's for autocross use, daily driving is something that occasionally happens, but not much. Mostly club events, and car cruises, ect...,
I drive a convertible, what is "A/C"?
Anybody else running these Power Pulleys?
Rear-End drain plug?
I can't belive that GM did not install drain plugs from the factory (or DANA corporation) :confused
Of course they do not install them in the automatic transmission pans either :confused
I'm suprised that they even put drain plugs in the oil pans!!!
I'd like to put a...
Just wondering if there is any power to be gained when using a C4 "off-road" where fedral laws do not apply,
By removing the cat. convertors and replacing with straight pipe sections to normal performance exhaust system (Corsa) still utilizing the O2 sensors before the cats and using O2...
Re: SLP Cold Air Induction
But your missing the "Cold Air Induction" advantage, still sucking in hot underhood air into the engine!
I'm lookin' for more info on the Vortex Rammer system?
