Okay, removed the LED units, installed 4 new 3057 bulbs, and it works just like it should. So, thanks so much.....you were correct. I guess that there is something wrong in the circuitry inside the lights. I still have the original taillight housings, so I will just re-install them for now...
Mr. Sam,
Ended up working late last night, so I didn't get a chance to change the bulbs. I'll try to get to it tonight.
I do have a question. When you turn the lights on, do the taillights still use the same ground? I seem to remember that on an old C3 Corvette I once owned that the...
Mr. Sam,
The very first diagnosis (I should have mentioned this in my first post....sorry) from a local shop was the multifunction switch. I don't guess I have to tell you much more. A new (AC Delco) multifunction switch had no effect on the problem, so you are correct in that assessment...
Mr. Sam,
Thank you for your response. You very well could be correct, and I can check this pretty easily by removing the LED units and plugging in the OEM bulbs, so I will do that, hopefully tomorrow night after work. The only reason I've not already tried this test, is because I assumed that...
Okay, here is what I have:
I installed the halo style LED taillights over 5 years ago, along with ballast resistors. Never had a problem until now. Front light bulbs are regular bulbs.
Now this is my issue.
Headlights/Parklights off:
All turn signals work normally (dash indicators work fine...
Okay, finally the weather and my work schedule cooperated. The car was on a "battery maintainer", so I took that off, and disconnected the neg. cable for 5 mins and reconnected. After that, the battery showed 12.7 V on my multimeter. I then started the car (no message) and went to a local...
Sorry for the delay in responding.....I'm out of town for the holiday. I will follow these suggestions to the letter when I get back home (and the weather lets me out of the garage!). Thanks for the help, guys. I'm sure we'll get this solved!

New problem. Some 3 years ago I found this site because of the standard CL problem. I had installed a Bypass, and after watching the vids, and exchanging some posts with C4C5specialist, removed it and cured the issue......until now. All this time (since removing the CLB) I could hear the...
So far, so good. No issues all week, and we're heading out to Maggie Valley (Vettes in the Valley) later this morning, so there will be plenty of starts/stops the next few days. Based on recent history, if nothing happens during that period, then my mind will be eased significantly! Thanks...
Thanks so much. I did just that this afternoon. We've been out since, and so far so good.......but I know that it will be a little while before I really can tell if it's made a change. I am very confident that this is THE fix............thanks so much. It even seemed to drive better tonight...
Thanks for the quick response. I just checked the codes, and there are none, either IPC, PCM, or BCM. All read "no codes".
I do not have a torque wrench that I can get to the battery termimals, but they are tight.......I didn't wring them off, but they are tight.
Is removing the CLB the...
I hate for my first post here to be a question, but that's what brought me to find this forum, so it's as good as any place to start.
I've had a '98 A4 since last June. Nice, well maintained, garage kept, low mileage, you know the story........our dream car. Once we found it and bought it...
