Z51 package - ok for pleasure driving?

Thanks to everyone for all your informative responses. I am happy to report that my friend Jeff is a new member of the Corvette family with his purchase of the Electron Blue 2002 w/ Z51 package. He is absolutely thrilled with the car, and I'm sure he'll be joining the CACC soon as well! :beer

Z51 package - ok for pleasure driving?

A friend of mine has found a good deal on a low mile 2002. He is vey interested, but he is unfamiliar with differences in the ride options offered in the c5's. This one has the z51 sport suspension with the 3.15 rear axle ratio. He plans to use the car for pleasure driving only, not performance...

    Muskegon brakes

I have ordered a total of 3 sets of calipers, brake hoses & semi-metallic pads from Muskegon, and so far I am very impressed with both the parts & the company. I ordered my first caliper after meeting them at Bloomington Gold 2001 (very friendly & helpful people). Then in July of this year I...

2004 Vette Debuted at Effingham Show

I agree, J. I was at the Effingham show, and I was not impressed by this car. It looked more like a Miata on steroids! The interior was also very plain-looking, with the shifter placed at a 45 degree angle - ouch! The wheels will probably end up on the next generation Pontiacs. All in all, not...

    Fuel Odor..........

Make sure you inspect the tank itself carefully as well. Gas evaporates fairly quickly, so you may not be seeing any puddles on the floor. Mine developed a leak right on the seam in the rear of the tank - it leaked slow enough that I could only smell the problem at first because the small puddle...

    78 owner manual

Welcome Matija, and congratulations on your new '78! You might also want to try ebay for your owner's manual - I've seen lots of Corvette manuals there over the years, many of them very cheap. Good Luck!

    3 eyes & can't see

Gary A trip to Chicago from Mattoon takes me about 2.5 hrs - it's about 185 miles straight up I-57. I imagine it would be about 3 to 3.5 hrs for you since there's no direct routes coming out of Dekalb to here (you might try Mapblast.com for the quickest path). Once you get to Mattoon, you'll...

    3 eyes & can't see

Hey Gary, Just wanted to chime in from the "downstate" IL area. Hope you're thinking about heading to Funfest (Mid-America) in Effingham in September. The small-town charm really shines through here - it's quite a bit different than Bloomington Gold, but just as fun! Ride On!

    Another exhaust-ting subject

My '79 now has Delta Flow (Flowmaster) 40's w/ no cat, new s.s. rear y-pipe from Mid America - I'm very happy with all! I especially love the look of the straight-out chrome tips my muffler guy put in (never been a big fan of the turned-down look) - has a great racecar look to it now. I noticed...

    C3 climate control light?

Thanks Mark! You've saved me from a serious head-scratcher. Plus, I now have another good excuse to take out the tops this weekend and cruise down to Mid America Designs (only 25 miles away) so I can pick up the bulb - a win-win situation! thanks again to Mark and the Forum, Doug

    C3 climate control light?

Can anyone tell me if the climate controls in my stock '79 are supposed to be illuminated? I swear they were when I first got the car in '95 (or did I dream it!), but I know they have not lit up for a least a couple years. When I looked underneath recently I saw no bulb or wiring harness for a...

    EGR Valve Clearance Problems.

Adam, You might try looking at jegs.com - I have been looking into the Performer 3701 intake (w/ EGR) for my '79, and they show an EGR spacer from Edelbrock, part #350-1476. I'd like to know if this works - I may be in for the same ordeal as you! Doug
