CA smog check FAQ 1
CA Smog Check FAQ 2
A couple years ago I was faced with the same possibility
so did some research.
There are differences depending on which area or county
you'd be in.
I think those links will let you know what you need to do
Yes, thanks.
I later saw elsewhere that an outfit named Borgeson sells those type of boxes (not sure if actually Jeep or just that type of box) that will bolt on in the existing mounting holes. That sure looked like a better solution than trying to make brackets plus having the Jeep box...
Well, thank you, kind sir!
Yes, most people think in terms of more hp, but most people are younger than I am, too! :-/
Like I said, I've had my fun and now becuz of budget my priority has to be gas mileage with an economical build.
The Comp cam I'm focusing on for now is quite similar to...
I have found sources for Desktop Dyno (haven't downloaded yet) where I intend to do just that to try to get a little closer to probable reality with the numbers.
In general and in most situations I completely agree with you on cam.
And I do have to consider budget so that ruled out a retro roller, or a later roller block that I'd have to at least do rings, bearings, gaskets, etc in and then still pay over $300 for just the cam.
So when I ended up with...
Yes, AFAIK that is correct above removing the clips inside the diff with the 6 link.
To me, preventing the accelerated wear inside the differential, and the additional stress on the U joints with the possibly rather severe body and other damage one would experience if a joint let go and the...
Well, I did start out asking for any experience with that, not opinions.
Opinions are cheap and often based on anything but fact. That's precisely why I asked for information on actual experience with it.
And, yes, BTW, I have experienced the problems mentioned in the original article, such as...
Somebody, incl Chevrolet, must have, else why so radically redesign
the rear susp in the C4?
And maybe the added stress on the half shaft U joints just might be
why NHRA requires shaft loops?
It sounds likeyou still haven't read that original article, written by
an engineer, BTW. Of coure...
Did you happen to read the original article where they did before and after handling tests? It seems it does correct the considerable amount of camber in the rear wheels under cornering.
Also, I really like reducing the stress on the differential carrier bearings and the stress on the 1/2...
After discovering the shortfalls with the rear suspension and looking for upgrades, I discovered this. It seems to be so much easier than adapting a C4 like some folks have done.
Just wondering about feedback from anyone that's tried it.
6-Link Rear Suspension (article about the original...
Just happened across this info.
Some helpful info, but, like all other such sources, is all of it accurate?
As in, where does the info originate?
Chevy Tech.Net
Very interesting!
Never heard of MVMA - out of curiosity what is it?
I noted some of the volume or dimension descriptions included
the word "minimum" - such as, notably, the comb chamber volume was
listed as minimum of 73.something, where the normally accepted
figure is 76. Sort of like the...
That sounds right in line with what I've found on at least 3 different CR calculators.
I also was hoping I could do something to enable me to run at least mid grade, but I couldn't even find any reasonable cost pistons that would give me a tad under 9-1 and good quench with quench type Vortec...
I do know I've seen the .016 & .017 figures in a couple spots, so am fairly sure of that. I just use the .016 to be consistent.
That is a good calculator, even taking into account ring height and piston to wall spec. I know I've used a similar one in the past, but
would have to dig thru my...
Oh, believe me, I have searched using every related term I could think of. Been working on this for better part of a week.
I have used several calculators, incl the Summit one, along with the KB one.
At least now, with someone actually having physically measured a piston, we know that much...
Out of curiosity, where did you find the pin height specs?
I've looked and looked and the info isn't even in my oem shop manual.
OK - I looked again in KB and see where they say some pistons are not "de stroked" to allow deck milling, and the one piston that says "not de stroked" is listed at...
