Thanks for all the comments
All-
Thank you all of the great comments, suggestions and experiences. I have decided to purchase a set of Kumho SPTs for the 93.
i just want you all to know that I considered all of your words, as well of some with some of my own research reading and suggestions...
Well it's time to change my tires on the 93. In searching around I have found there is quite a difference in prices and I'm trying to get the best value for my $. I am a weekend driver that enjoys touring the windy country roads in the hills around where I live. I am not a track or racing...
Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone. It seams like the simple green and scrubbing pad worked for a few weeks. Unfortunately the stain is back. I'm going to try the Back to Black next. Tell ya how it goes.
Another of one of my, "look what I did" posts. Enjoy (or not).
Bought a '93 last year from an acquaintance who had the car under tarps in his brother-in-laws back yard for 6 years. The car was "loaded" with almost all of the options of that year, but it had a myriad of electrical problems...
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm going to give them all a try (keeping the painting as the last resort). The scotch bright pad with simple green concentrate is helping.
My neighbor suggested Mothers Back to Black. Any comments on that stuff?
I bought a '93 last year and I noticed that there is a stain on the underside of the hood. It looks like the previous owner had some sort of a leak and it sprayed around the engine compartment. I've cleaned the underside of the hood with a Amorall plastic cleaner and simple green surface...
This is more of a "what I found and how did I fix it" type post. I hope you find it informative.
Purchased a 1993 C4 a few months ago for a steal of a price, knowing that there was a lot of issues with it. After driving it for a few months I noticed the battery was quickly going dead if she...
Well it appears that the rough riding conditions I am experiencing may not be due to the SRC. After noticing that I started getting a noticeably rougher ride when I hit ~70 MPH, I decided to get the tires rebalanced and checked. The bad news is that the tires are out-of-round by about 1/4...
Success! After getting the corvette back from paint and spending some quality time with her, I figured it out. Here is my process to discovery.
1. Popped out the AC control head and measured the voltage at the connector. It was less than a volt. Good, hopefully this means control head is...
Hib & glasounov-
I have confirmed that the shocks are SRC. The control harness is connected and the and the controller is mounted on the top of each shock. Car is still at the painter. Will do the road test soon.

Not yet. The car is in for a little body repair and paint. I should have it back before Thanksgiving. During this long weekend, I'll be able to begin doing some debugging.
Thanks for the URL to that page.

Great! Another 3 letter acronym. Seriously, I really appreciate this. The BCM should be a lot easier to get to and test.
I think I have a more serious issue. My climate control display is blank. Not like mhschaub, who had a "--" on the screen.
Thanks for you help.
mhschaub-
Thanks for the info. I am curious, besides the fan running full, I get no display at all on the climate control system. Only a back light. Is that what you saw?
I just got a look at a 1993 C4 repair manual (the real 2 book GM deal) Actually, the ECM (engine control module) is...
Hib and glazounov-
That is a good suggestion. I vaguely remember the controller being on top of the shock, but I can't say for sure. She is still in the shop getting painted this week. I have to stop by there tomorrow to drop something off, if she is not all masked-up, i'll pop the hood and...
Hib-
This sounds like a good plan. The car is in for paint this week. I should have it back before Thanksgiving to run the road test. I'll report back on what I find. As a C4 newbie, I really appreciate your support.
Hib-
As far as I can tell, the car has not been lowered. I have compared it to other C4s, and it appears to be the same general height.
As a test, I was considering disconnecting the SRC actuators to see if I got a change in the ride. This would only tell me something if the shocks defaulted...
Ya, I was afraid of that. That's why I was wondering if there is any way to make sure the SRC is working. I would hate to replace them to find out it was the control system and not the shocks.
If I have to replace them, I may consider sending them out to get rebuilt.
