Another thing I'll have to address with my new to me '87 is that the plastic end piece that hooks to the throttle assembly is broken. The piece is there but the part that hooks on is gone. Is there any way these can be repaired to keep in use or does the entire cable have to be swapped out...
Don't forget.. I don't live in the Corvette Mecca of the world here. :D There are places to get it but Ebay ($31.00 shipping????) and the places that are here would need to order from the US anyway and that would take a couple weeks. BUT. Even though I have read some pretty questionable...
I called my local GM dealer and was told that these were discontinued. Why, who knows. I am having no luck locating one locally and may have to wait a week or so before I get get one. I am looking at these...
Great. That is what I figured. After looking at the connector again, the back connector on the three way "Bulb" is broken off, that's why it didn't make sense to me. Can I buy that connector at any auto parts store or do I have to get it from GM?
Among the cut wires and hoses not being where they were supposed to be, I have come across three, I believe vacuum tubes that I can't figure out where they go.
The first one goes to the canister area in the front driver side corner and has this on the end. It reaches near the rear of the...
The driver side motor went up when I plugged THAT side into the relay to/from the passenger side. And I did the opposite with the passenger side. No work. That is why I am thinking that the fusable link on the red wire to the driver side is faulty. It says something about "Heavy duty...
Thanks Boom. I have a FSM on the way already. Should be here this week I hope. The relays are all fine and the motor is good on the one that won't operate. I plugged the driver side headlight pod feed into the passenger side relay, with the feed from the passenger side, and it went up. As...
Hummm.. Ok I have power to the red and yellow on the wiring going to the passenger side relay, but only power on the yellow wire going to the drive side pod. It sounds like there must be a fuseable link in there somewhere but where? Could I tap into the red going to the passenger relay and...
I have found the three of them and isolated the driver side relay. What I'm doing:
Doing some electrical tracing on my '87 Vette and I'm trying to figure out why the driver side headlight pod isn't getting power. The headlight goes on, but the bucket won't move. I checked for power at the...
Probably should have but I checked it first and it was nice and clean and didn't "Appear" to have broken down, but I only had it run a few seconds. I'm making a trip to the goodie store tomorrow to grab a bunch of things including oil. What would be a good grade as it won't be driven at all...
Thanks Boom and others. Great, insightful writeup that was. I have a factory manual on the way, and also have a good buddy who works at a GM parts shop who is going to look out for me and get me my parts for cost. Time is on my side with this project as well. Interesting you mentioned...
First post here, well second if you count my Intro. the other day.
I picked up an '87 Convertible last Friday, 220,000 KM that had been sitting tucked away in a warehouse for 14 years, as a winter project. After doing a lot of reading here I am getting a somewhat basic idea of how these...
Here is my $1,800.00 Project after I got the 14 years of dust and dirt off it. The seats are toast but I have a fantastic upholsterer up here who did my MGB seats. I'll use him I think. The car looks real good from 20' as well..
Good evening all,
I finally got a Corvette last Friday and although it isn't the '63 Split window coupe that I've dreampt about, it will be a good starting point for me. A buddy of mine knew I was looking for a "Project" Vette to keep me busy for the winter and put me in touch with a pal of his...
