Hi Billd,
I presume that the replaced testing MFS were all for that year [there are 3 different operational but not looking, MFS for 1985 -1989, and they are not really interchangeable]. Also sometimes the the silent but violent culprit is the relays, and again not interchangeable.
What you did...
Bleeding Brakes
Hi Jerry,
I wondered if you started addressing your brakes. What Wegone stated is correct, DOT4 is just an upgraded DOT3, work on the master cylinder first the way Wegone described it, then bleed the brakes.
Bleeding the brakes, the old fashion way is the best way [just my...
C4 1898 Corvette standard
Hi Harryd,
With your headlight, it is a common problem with 1988 - 1996 corvettes, especially as they are getting on in 'age'. Your 3 nylon bushings in your headlight gears are probably pulverised. Symptoms are headlight wont go up, or maybe wont go down, in any...

Great Rotor info
Hi Jerry,
As far as brand of brake fluid is concerned, here in NZ we probably haven't got the brand selection you have in the US. However, because I change the fluid every 2 years [more frequent if racing], I don't worry about brand, but I go for the light coloured fluid...
Exhaust replacement - 84 Coupe 4+3
Gidday Ocker,
If you are thinking of replacing your exhaust system, I would recommend a custom made system. Removing the catalytic converter will also make it a bit cooler inside cabin around the floor area.
Presuming your Corvette is like mine, [that is...
Great Rotor Info
Hi Jerry,
To me you sound like [take this as a compliment] a caring and safe driver. The Corvette brakes, back then, were not really the best type if you drive the car hard.
In your case I believe what you have in brakes is good enough, providing your rotors are not worn...
Hi Jerry,
If changing the front rotors, I'm personally not too excited about fitting drilled ones. About 10 years ago it was the 'fashion' to have drilled rotors, on road cars [not competition cars].
However, I was surprised how many corvettes came into my shop with cracks in the rotors between...
Hi,
Personally, I would rebuild an original Corvette engine, they are a better engine even though they have the same identification number [L98]. The engine would be close to 30 years old and the casting would be 'hard', and cured by now, making it easy to machine, weld, clean, etc. You can...
You might have vacuum from all the ports. However, you might be getting confused between Port Vacuum [which occurs at higher throttle opening or acceleration], used for such things as distributor advance {where applicable}, canister purge,], and Manifold Vacuum [which occurs at lower throttle...
Brute86
it's either fuel or spark. When it wont start remove cap on schrader valve near fuel regulator, and press valve with a nail. If it squirt fuel generally means not a fuel problem.
With spark, the rule of thumb is generally if it doesn't start when cold it's the ignition module, if it...
