Drove it today
Coolant temps are perfect. Oil temp seemed to average high 220s (fahrenheit) and got up to 234 (fahrenheit). Oil temps seem very high. So I think it might be something oil related causing the smoke from the dipstick. I wonder if the oil pump could possibly be bad or something...
Hey everyone,
I have a 2002 C5 Z06. In January I blew a valve spring. I had a severe engine misfire, I did not drop a valve. I replaced all the o2 sensors, valve springs, spark plugs and wires, and mass air flow sensor in February. Car ran alright afterwards.
Late February/ early March I threw...
Well I decided to go with a different magnaflow cat system. Found out my car is Cali compliant haha! I will post pics when done, first gotta wait for UPS to deliver em to Napa.
:beer
Here are the ones I decided to go with:
CHEVROLET CORVETTE MagnaFlow Direct Fit Catalytic Converters 448988 -...
Why I need new Cats: I busted a valve spring which caused an engine misfire and ruined my o2 sensors. After getting all of that fixed my car showed a p0420 code, inneficient bad catalyst left bank. All o2 sensors are great shape, engine is great, no head gasket leaks, brand new all good shape...
Update
All the new spark plugs look pretty even. There is no coolant leak. So I just went ahead and pulled the trigger and purchased two new catalytic converters at Napa. I am going with OEM replacement. Dang valve springs cost an arm and a leg when they go out! :beer
Thanks for that piece of advice gmjunkie! I will check make sure there is no head gasket leaks and make sure all my new spark plugs are about the same. If it is so then yay!:beer
Heck I should probably seafoam the car through a vacuum hose. I could only imagine the amount of carbon in there...
Hey everyone,
I have a 2002 Z06 Corvette. It had a few issues lately; I thought I got them all resolved, but I guess I am having a few more. :)
I will go over the history of recent resolved problems. (within past month and a half)
-thrown code for driver side rear o2 sensor. (found that all...
Update. Check those valve springs!
Hey everyone!
Thank-you so much for all the advice! I was seriously thinking because my car threw check engine codes for a MAF, engine misfire, and o2 sensor it was having issues with MAF which caused issues with the o2 sensors and somehow the spark plugs...
update
Car has no codes. I am not going to drive it. It has a busted valve spring. English racing will be replacing them and checking out what other potential damage may have occured.
Update
Spark plugs and wires are replaced. Engine still has mis-fire. I had the car towed to English Racing. Car has no compression in one of the cylinders. Possibly a broken valve spring.
I can't really describe to well how the engine ran. I did not want it to run because the car felt like it...
@ Toms007- No, I do not have have a factory service manual. I should probably get one this week. Thank-you.
@ dadaroo- I unplugged the battery during the MAF change, so my cheapo scan tool was not able to pick up any new codes. That is a good idea, could possibly be a plug. I just picked up some...
Hey all,
I have a 2002 Z06. It is having some issues.
About a week ago I got a check engine light, said I got a bad o2 sensor, so I replaced them all. Ran perfect after that.
A few days afterward it just started running like crap in the middle of a drive, would die and sputter out if below...
The driving experience has been out of this world! I have a great appreciation and respect for the Z06, it is a whole different animal than any of my other cars! :beer My friend also pointed out that I always grin real big grin after accelerating. :D
I was wondering if there is any good tire paint? I have Falken FK452's in the front and want to paint the lettering red, white, and blue. In the rear I have GoodYear SuperCar F1's and want to paint them yellow and blue. Or is just all tire lettering paint crap? thank-you for reading and let me...
I have GoodYear Eagle F1 Supercar for the rear. I have Falken FK452 for the front. I got the car with that setup and I love it. Goes around corners and grips very well. I will probably keep that setup. :)
