I know this is an old thread, but on my car it was the control valve. I rebuilt it myself - there is a small piston that slides from side to side from steering input inside the control valve and mine was getting stuck when pushed to the left. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To be honest I don't remember if I had a MIL light or not, but the symptoms sound awfully familiar. It's easy enough to try. I DO remember that after the guy who diagnosed it did that test, it really ran like crap after that until I changed the MAF!

I had an Z28 that had a bad mass air flow sensor that would behave like that. If you tap the MAF sensor with a screwdriver handle while the engine was running, the idle would change. Replace MAF and all was good.

I need a p/s black vinyl seat bottom cover for a '64. My other bottom and both backs are in great shape, so I really don't want to buy a whole set. I'm hoping someone on here replaced theirs and has a good one leftover? 908-917-4349

Luk is usually pretty good, I wonder if it's some re-boxed crap that NAPA sells. Rock Auto has an AC Delco available.

Not really looking to correct it, just kinda looking to research the history of the car. If that happens to lead to someone who still has the original engine in the back of their garage, then that's even better!

I have a '64 that I would like to find out more about, and maybe if I get REALLY lucky, locate the original motor for. Any tips on a good place to start, maybe a website or something that you guys have had some luck with? Thanks... Bill

My Dad bought the car about 5 years ago, he changed the control valve a few years ago (it was leaking) but he never really drove it before. I just put a reman pump on it (also was leaking) but the problem didn't change.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm curious if there was any resolution as I am having this EXACT problem on a '64.
